ovs-mcp: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

ovs-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from ncleton-petitmaker/ovs-mcp. It costs 176 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for developing the OVS MCP server, including rules for credentials, website operations, diagnostics, and future cart changes. An MCP server lets an agent use external tools through a standard connection.

In plain words
What is it for?
They are for guiding contributors who modify the OVS integration, especially its authentication, API handling, output, and cart-mutation code.
Why use it?
They reduce the risk of exposing private shop data or making unsupported requests while the server is being changed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00176 $0.00176
Opus 5 $0.00088 $0.00088
Sonnet 5 $0.00035 $0.00035
Haiku 4.5 $0.00018 $0.00018

Security

Grade A, and why

ovs-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

OVS MCP contributor instructions

  • Never commit or print an OVS credential, cookie, session file, customer record, address, cart, order, email, or telephone number.
  • Keep runtime session files outside the repository with mode 0600.
  • Use only website operations observed from OVS. Do not invent endpoints, actions, headers, or response fields.
  • Fail explicitly when authentication, API version, or response schemas are no longer recognized. Never switch to a browser or mock backend silently.
  • Reserve stdout for MCP stdio frames. Send diagnostics to stderr after redacting secrets.
  • Read operations may be exposed directly. Any future mutation must use preview/confirmation, state revalidation, serialization, timeouts, and ambiguous-result reconciliation.
  • AGENTS.md is the source of truth. Keep CLAUDE.md as an import of this file.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
