CLAUDE.md

ftc-claude CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from ncssm-robotics/ftc-claude. It costs 1,072 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project instruction file for an AI coding assistant working on a collection of skills for FIRST Tech Challenge robotics teams. It defines the repository layout and rules for changing skills.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when editing skills or their scripts to update the changelog correctly, follow the repository structure, and prepare related changes for a commit.
Why use it?
It prevents skill changes from skipping required release-note updates or violating the project's contribution process.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01072 $0.01072
Opus 5 $0.00536 $0.00536
Sonnet 5 $0.00214 $0.00214
Haiku 4.5 $0.00107 $0.00107

Measured 8d ago against content hash 6e31ec285d6c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ftc-claude CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Claude Code Project Context

This is the FTC Claude Skills Marketplace - a collection of AI coding agent skills for FIRST Tech Challenge robotics teams.

MANDATORY: When Making Changes to Skills

Before committing ANY change to a plugin's SKILL.md or scripts, you MUST:

  1. Update CHANGELOG.md first - Add entry to ## [Unreleased] section
  2. Use correct category based on change type:
    • ### Added - New sections, examples, features
    • ### Fixed - Bug fixes, corrections, consistency fixes
    • ### Changed - Breaking behavior changes
    • ### Removed - Deleted features (breaking)
  3. Write user-facing descriptions - These appear in release notes
  4. Never bump version numbers - Automated during release

Workflow for each commit:

1. Make change to SKILL.md (or other plugin files)
2. Update plugin's CHANGELOG.md [Unreleased] section
3. Commit both files together

This applies to YOU (the agent) when making changes, not just when reviewing others' work.

Repository Structure

  • plugins/ - Skill plugins for robot teams, each with plugin.json, CHANGELOG.md, and skills/<name>/SKILL.md
  • .claude/ - Project-local contributor tooling (commands, skills, scripts, hooks)
  • .claude-plugin/marketplace.json - Registry of all available plugins with versions
  • VERSIONING.md - Semantic versioning guidelines for plugins
  • template/ - Templates for new plugins including CHANGELOG.md
  • README.md - Public documentation with skill table
  • .github/workflows/ - CI/CD including skill validation and version checking

Code Review Guidelines

Run local code review with the same checks as the PR bot:

/review <skill-name>
Review Type Skill Purpose
code code-review Structure, content quality, marketplace
security security-review Credentials, file safety, FTC IP whitelist
youth youth-safety-review Content appropriateness for students

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
