Aethos_Memory: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

Aethos_Memory AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from nisargpatel1906/Aethos_Memory. It costs 457 tokens per session, scanned C, original, MIT.

A set of instructions that gives an AI coding assistant persistent memory features, including saving facts, recalling past context, recording actions, and turning lessons into reusable skills.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to retain project decisions, preferences, technical choices, task state, and lessons learned across conversations.
Why use it?
It is intended to reduce repeated explanations and help the assistant recover work after a new session or interruption.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00457 $0.00457
Opus 5.5 $0.00183 $0.00183
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00091 $0.00091
Haiku 4.5 $0.00046 $0.00046

Security

Grade C, and why

Aethos_Memory AGENTS.md scanned grade C with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 29d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

What it actually says

OpenCode & AI Assistant Guidelines: Aethos Memory Directives

You are equipped with Aethos Memory (remember, recall, get_session_handoff, audit_action, record_activity, distill_lesson, promote_to_skill, get_memory_context).

The 5 Cognitive Pillars & Passive Recovery

  1. AUTOMATIC PERSISTENCE (remember / save_memory):

    • You MUST automatically and silently call remember() on EVERY turn whenever the user states personal facts, preferences, technology stack choices, architectural decisions, code design choices, or project goals.
    • Do NOT wait for explicit user prompt commands like "save this" or "remember this". Call remember() silently alongside your answers.
    • Do not store generic pleasantries, small talk, or transient chatter.
  2. PROACTIVE TASK RECALL & CRASH RECOVERY (get_session_handoff / get_memory_context / recall):

    • Whenever starting a session, switching tools, or resuming after an abrupt rate limit or context cutoff, call get_session_handoff() or get_memory_context(task="continue previous session") to immediately recover the previous tool's execution state, recent commands, and stored decisions.
    • Call get_memory_context(task="...") before starting non-trivial tasks or answering questions referencing prior decisions, tech stacks, or conventions.
  3. PRE-FLIGHT AUDIT (audit_action):

    • Call audit_action(action_type="command", target="...") before executing potentially destructive shell commands, piped scripts (curl | bash), or database drops/deletes.
  4. FLIGHT RECORDER (record_activity):

    • Call record_activity(...) to log significant execution steps, tool invocations, shell outputs, and error traces.
  5. SKILL PROMOTION (distill_lesson / promote_to_skill):

    • After resolving non-trivial debugging issues, call distill_lesson(...) to extract structured lessons, and promote_to_skill(...) to write reusable agent skills to .agents/skills/<slug>/SKILL.md.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

Aethos_Memory AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository nisargpatel1906/Aethos_Memory (5 stars, last pushed 1mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 457 tokens to every session, about $0.0018 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it C with 2 findings (downloads and executes remote code, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-09-28.
