CLAUDE.md

mcp-code-indexer CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from Nishant-Chaudhary5338/mcp-code-indexer. It costs 1,413 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for Claude Code in an MCP code-indexing repository. It explains the repository layout, commands, vocabulary, build pipeline, and where its code and documentation live.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on this repository, such as building or testing packages, indexing an application, starting the server or viewer, or navigating its code graph.
Why use it?
It gives the coding agent the local context needed to run commands from the right directory and understand the code-indexing system's terms and dependencies.

This is Nishant-Chaudhary5338/mcp-code-indexer's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on mcp-code-indexer itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything mcp-code-indexer configures →

Needs its repository: it reads a path above its own folder, which exists only inside the repository. The line is Repo-wide context & memory: [`../.claude/`](../.claude/README.md) — esp..

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01413 $0.01413
Opus 5 $0.00707 $0.00707
Sonnet 5 $0.00283 $0.00283
Haiku 4.5 $0.00141 $0.00141

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-code-indexer CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CLAUDE.md — mcp-indexer

Operational map for the code-intelligence engine. Full rationale in docs/DESIGN.md; usage in README.md.

Repo-wide context & memory: ../.claude/ — esp. memory.md (history/decisions) and indexer.md.

Commands (turbo, from this dir)

pnpm build # topo build: code-graph-core → _shared → code-indexer → indexer-server/web
pnpm typecheck # tsc --noEmit across packages
pnpm lint # eslint, shared flat config
pnpm test # vitest (schemas + engine) + node:test (server) + web
pnpm index:app # index sibling ../app → app/.code-graph/graph.json
pnpm serve:app # HTTP+WS server :3002 (INDEXER_ROOT=../app)
pnpm ui # 3D web viewer :5182 (proxies /api + /ws → :3002)

pnpm build is required before running the CLI/MCP (compiled JS) or the server (runs via tsx but imports the compiled engine). If pnpm errors with "no importer manifest," you're in the wrong cwd — use pnpm -C /abs/path/to/mcp-indexer.

The model (the whole vocabulary)

  • Nodes: repo · app · package · folder · file · component · function. Strict Zod discriminatedUnion — each variant carries only its legal fields (a repo has no span; only component/function have span+bundleBytes). Validation rejects illegal states.
  • Edges: contains · imports · references · renders · calls · depends-on.
    • imports/references (type-only) = file-level, from ts-morph module resolution.
    • renders (component→component) / calls (symbol→symbol) = symbol-level, resolved in the semantic pass through each file's import bindings + local symbols. Conservative: an edge is emitted only when the target resolves to a real indexed node (no wrong edges; library/builtin names produce nothing).
    • depends-on = package→package, read from package.json (monorepos only).

Pipeline

discoverWorkspace → indexMacro → indexStructure → buildSnapshot → (progressive) enrichStatus

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
