platform-skills: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

platform-skills CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from nitinjain999/platform-skills. It costs 2,930 tokens per session, scanned B, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of instructions for building platform-engineering skills, covering how to find root causes, assess the effects of changes, plan rollbacks, and apply security controls. Platform engineering connects tools and services used to build and run software.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when designing skills, documenting tool ownership and interfaces, organizing detailed guidance, and creating production-focused examples.
Why use it?
It provides shared rules for making changes safely across multiple tools instead of treating each tool in isolation.

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02930 $0.02930
Opus 5 $0.01465 $0.01465
Sonnet 5 $0.00586 $0.00586
Haiku 4.5 $0.00293 $0.00293

Security

Grade B, and why

platform-skills CLAUDE.md scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Strips warnings and disclaimersmediumAnti-refusal

Omitting safety caveats hides risk from the user and is a common jailbreak preamble.

2. **Safety** - Never suggest risky operations without warnings

Platform Skills - Skill Development Guide

This document explains the philosophy, structure, and development principles for the Platform Skills Claude Agent Skill.

Philosophy

Production-First Engineering

Platform Skills embodies a production-first mindset:

  • Root-cause analysis over symptoms - Don't just fix the error; understand why it happened
  • Blast radius awareness - Every change has consequences; document them
  • Rollback plans are mandatory - If you can't undo it safely, don't do it
  • Security by default - Least privilege, defense in depth, assume breach

Progressive Disclosure

Information architecture follows progressive disclosure:

  1. SKILL.md - Essential patterns and problem classification
  2. references/ - Deep dives into specific domains
  3. examples/ - Concrete, copy-paste-able implementations

Users get quick answers from SKILL.md, detailed guidance from references, and working code from examples.

Multi-Domain Coherence

Platform engineering spans multiple tools. This skill maintains coherence by:

  • Defining ownership boundaries - Which tool owns which concern
  • Establishing contracts - How tools interact (Terraform → GitOps reconciler → Apps)
  • Preventing overlap - Don't recreate in GitOps what Terraform manages
  • Standardizing patterns - Same approach across AWS and Azure where applicable

Architecture

Skill Activation

The skill activates when users work with:

  • Flux CD or Argo CD reconciliation or GitOps repository design
  • Kubernetes or OpenShift platform patterns
  • AWS/Azure infrastructure or IAM/RBAC configuration
  • Terraform modules or state management
  • GitHub Actions workflows or CI/CD security
  • Linkerd service mesh, mTLS, or traffic management
  • Linux system administration, DNS, load balancing, or VPC/VNet networking
  • Developer experience, platform product thinking, or cross-team communication
  • Multi-cloud platform architecture decisions

Activation is automatic based on context, and users can also ask for platform-skills guidance explicitly in conversation.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
