smara-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

smara-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from nnaveenraju/smara-mcp. It costs 2,281 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of instructions for Claude Code working on the Smara MCP repository, a TypeScript memory layer for AI agents. It describes the project, commands, architecture, testing, and development flow.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when installing dependencies, building, testing, type-checking, developing, or running the Smara MCP server. It also guides the agent toward the project's architecture and code flow.
Why use it?
It gives the coding agent the repository context and commands needed to work in the right way, reducing guesswork before changing files.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02281 $0.02281
Opus 5 $0.01141 $0.01141
Sonnet 5 $0.00456 $0.00456
Haiku 4.5 $0.00228 $0.00228

Measured 11d ago against content hash 91cda593a32d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

smara-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

npx vitest run -t "test name substring" # single test by name

npm run lint # tsc --noEmit (type-check only; no ESLint configured)

npm run docker:build # build image from docker/Dockerfile
npm run docker:compose # docker compose up (prod profile)

npm run eval:generate # generate synthetic eval dataset
npm run eval:benchmark # Recall@10 / MRR@10 / NDCG@10 benchmark
npm run eval:benchmark:real # same, using real embeddings (SMARA_USE_REAL_EMBEDDINGS=1)

scripts/ is currently empty. The init-db, migrate, and generate-key npm scripts reference files that don't yet exist — don't invoke them until the scripts are added.

High-Level Architecture

This is a stdio-based MCP server built on @modelcontextprotocol/sdk. The core design is a provider abstraction layer — the MCP server depends only on four interfaces, with concrete backends selected at startup from config. See ARCHITECTURE.md for the canonical reference (the diagrams and data flow there are authoritative).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
