unreal-mcp-additional-tools: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

unreal-mcp-additional-tools CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from nodormu/unreal-mcp-additional-tools. It costs 1,727 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Instructions for an MCP server that connects coding agents to Unreal Engine, a game-development tool. The server provides 81 tools across 14 Unreal subsystems through several connection methods.

In plain words
What is it for?
Developing, building, testing, linting, and extending the Unreal Engine tool server while following its TypeScript architecture and transport setup.
Why use it?
They explain the server's structure, commands, and boundaries so new tools do not duplicate tools already provided by Epic's official server.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01727 $0.01727
Opus 5 $0.00864 $0.00864
Sonnet 5 $0.00345 $0.00345
Haiku 4.5 $0.00173 $0.00173

Security

Grade A, and why

unreal-mcp-additional-tools CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What This Is

An MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for Unreal Engine — 81 tools across 14 subsystems. TypeScript/Node.js, ESM, communicates with UE via four transport layers.

The toolset is deliberately deduplicated against Epic's official Unreal MCP server so both can be connected at once. The blueprint (12 tools) and plugin (3 tools) modules were removed outright as strict subsets of Epic's BlueprintTools/PluginToolset; actor, asset, and material were trimmed to only what Epic lacks. When adding tools, check Epic's server first — don't reintroduce overlap. See README for the full dedupe rationale.

Commands

npm run dev # Watch-mode dev server (tsx)
npm run build # Compile TypeScript → dist/
npm start # Run compiled server
npm test # vitest in watch mode; `npm test -- run` for a single non-interactive pass
npm run lint # Biome check src/
npm run fmt # Biome format --write src/

Architecture

stdio (MCP protocol)
  → bin.ts # CLI entry, creates server + StdioTransport
  → index.ts                  # createServer() factory, registers tools & resources
  → ConnectionManager # Orchestrates all 4 transports
→ 14 Tool Modules # Each exports register*Tools(server, manager, config)
  → 4 Transports → Unreal Engine

Transports (src/transports/)

Transport Protocol Port Requires
RemoteControlClient HTTP to UE Remote Control API 30010 Remote Control API plugin (built-in)
PythonExecClient UDP multicast discovery + inverted TCP 6776 Python Editor Script Plugin w/ Remote Execution
PluginBridgeClient TCP, length-prefixed JSON 55557 Optional C++ plugin for deep Blueprint/K2 access — not used by any tool today, see Plugin Enhancement Layer below
SubprocessRunner Spawns UAT/UBT processes N/A Engine path only (no editor needed)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
