dotnet-artisan AGENTS.md

dotnet-artisan AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from novotnyllc/dotnet-artisan. It costs 1,224 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a .NET plugin containing reusable skills and specialist agents. They define the required metadata and conventions for writing skills and linking them together.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when adding or changing .NET skills, setting their metadata, writing cross-references, or defining language for routing tasks to specialist agents.
Why use it?
They keep skills consistent across tools and make sure agents can discover, route to, and use them reliably.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01224 $0.01224
Opus 5 $0.00612 $0.00612
Sonnet 5 $0.00245 $0.00245
Haiku 4.5 $0.00122 $0.00122

Measured 5d ago against content hash 94852a2ca0bd, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

dotnet-artisan AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

dotnet-artisan -- Plugin Instructions

This repository contains one dotnet-artisan plugin under plugins/dotnet-artisan. The plugin provides 9 skills (process + domain) and 14 specialist agents for .NET development. It follows the Agent Skills open standard.

Key Conventions

SKILL.md Frontmatter

Every skill requires name, description, and license frontmatter fields. Additional optional fields control skill visibility and execution:

---
name: dotnet-example-skill
description: One-line summary under 600 characters
license: MIT
user-invocable: false
---

Required fields:

  • name (string) -- must match the directory name
  • description (string) -- target under 600 characters (WARN at 12,000 total, FAIL at 15,600)
  • license (string) -- must be MIT; required by Copilot CLI

Required by repo policy:

  • user-invocable (boolean) -- must be explicitly set on every skill (true or false); required for cross-provider predictability

Optional fields:

  • disable-model-invocation (boolean) -- set to true to prevent Claude from loading the skill
  • context (string) -- set to fork for isolated execution without conversation history
  • model (string) -- model override, e.g. haiku for lightweight detection tasks

Cross-Reference Syntax

Reference skills and agents using machine-parseable syntax:

See [skill:dotnet-csharp] for C# language patterns and async/await guidance.
Route to [skill:dotnet-security-reviewer] for security audit.

Use [skill:name] for ALL routable references (skills and agents) -- bare text names are not machine-parseable. The validator resolves references against the union of skill directory names and agent file stems.

Routing Language Rules

Descriptions must follow the Action + Domain + Differentiator formula using third-person declarative style. No WHEN prefix, no filler phrases. Every skill must have ## Scope and ## Out of scope sections. See docs/skill-routing-style-guide.md for the full canonical rules.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
