ai-prd-workflow: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

ai-prd-workflow AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from nurettincoban/ai-prd-workflow. It costs 437 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for maintaining a prompt-based software project. They explain where source prompts live, how generated files are rebuilt, how shared text is updated, and which documentation and contracts must change together.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing prompts, rebuilding skills, updating shared sections, changing documented artifacts, or modifying examples and translations.
Why use it?
They prevent edits from being made to generated files or leaving generated content, translations, examples, and project rules out of sync.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions .claude-plugin.

This is nurettincoban/ai-prd-workflow's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on ai-prd-workflow itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything ai-prd-workflow configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00437 $0.00437
Opus 5.5 $0.00175 $0.00175
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00087 $0.00087
Haiku 4.5 $0.00044 $0.00044

Security

Grade A, and why

ai-prd-workflow AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 14d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Working on ai-prd-workflow

This repository is a set of prompts. The prompt files at the repo root are the product; everything else exists to ship them and to check them. Read CONTRIBUTING.md for the full rules; these are the ones an AI agent most often gets wrong.

  • Edit the root prompts, never skills/. skills/ is generated from the root prompts by ./install.sh --build. After changing a prompt, rebuild and commit skills/ in the same commit.
  • Shared sections live in shared/. Some sections appear word for word in several prompts. Edit the file in shared/ and run python3 scripts/check-prompts.py --fix; editing one copy fails CI.
  • Contracts move with the prompts. If a prompt starts or stops reading or writing an artifact (PRD.md, FEATURES.md, RFCS.md, ...), update the contracts table in CONTRIBUTING.md in the same commit.
  • The example is real output. examples/url-shortener/after/ was produced by running the commands. Do not hand-edit it to match a prompt change; rerun the commands, or leave it and say it predates the change.
  • README changes reach the translations. The README.*.md translations (zh-CN, tr, ja, ko, es) follow README.md. Update them in the same change, keeping commands, code and file names in English, or tell the user they are now behind.
  • Versions move together. VERSION in install.sh, version in .claude-plugin/plugin.json, and the CHANGELOG entry.

Before committing, run:

python3 scripts/check-prompts.py
python3 -m unittest discover scripts
./install.sh --build && bash scripts/test-install.sh

When writing prompt text: keep it tool-agnostic and concrete, and say why a rule exists when the reason is not obvious — the existing prompts do this, and the reasons are what stop a later edit from "simplifying" the rule away.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
