CLAUDE.md

image-gen-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from nuver-labs/image-gen-mcp. It costs 1,774 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of project instructions for an image-generation server that lets coding agents create and edit images through Gemini and OpenAI. It documents the server's purpose, rules, commands, and code structure.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing, documenting, testing, or reviewing the image-generation server and its MCP connection.
Why use it?
It gives the agent one reliable reference for working in the repository and helps prevent protocol errors, exposed API keys, and inconsistent documentation.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01774 $0.01774
Opus 5 $0.00887 $0.00887
Sonnet 5 $0.00355 $0.00355
Haiku 4.5 $0.00177 $0.00177

Security

Grade A, and why

image-gen-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

CLAUDE.md

Project instructions for Claude when working in the image-gen-mcp repo.

What this is

A standalone stdio MCP server that generates and edits images with Gemini and OpenAI using the user's own API keys. It is published to npm as @nuver-labs/image-gen-mcp and to the MCP registry as com.nuverlabs/image-gen, under the Nuver Labs GitHub org. This repo is the single owner of that server: code, docs, and conventions live here, not in the projects that consume it.

Users install it with npx -y @nuver-labs/image-gen-mcp. Never reintroduce absolute local paths into the README or tool messages.

Hard rules

  • NEVER use em dashes or en dashes anywhere: code comments, docs, commit messages, tool descriptions, README. Use periods, commas, colons, parentheses, or plain hyphens.
  • stdout belongs to the MCP JSON-RPC protocol. No console.log in src/ (smoke.ts is the only exception, it is a standalone CLI). All diagnostics go through log() in src/config.ts (stderr). index.ts writes to stdout only for --version and --help, which exit before the transport connects.
  • Never log, echo, or commit API key values. list_capabilities reports booleans only. Keys reach SDK constructors and nothing else.
  • Expected failures return { isError: true, content: [text] } with an actionable message; do not throw them across the MCP boundary. Use ProviderError (src/providers/types.ts) and FileError (src/files.ts).
  • The three tool names and their input schemas are a published contract. Renaming a tool or removing a field needs a major version.

Commands

  • pnpm build: compile (tsc, ESM NodeNext; relative imports need .js extensions), then chmod the bin
  • pnpm typecheck: tsc --noEmit
  • pnpm test: node:test unit suite, no API keys needed
  • pnpm inspect: build, then list tools over real MCP stdio
  • node dist/smoke.js --provider gemini|openai [--edit path] [--out dir] [--model id]: live provider test, costs real API cents

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
