cosmos-curator: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

cosmos-curator AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from NVIDIA/cosmos-curator. It costs 2,019 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of skills AGENTS.md, Apache-2.0.

Project-specific instructions for NVIDIA/cosmos-curator, a system that processes, analyzes, and organizes video content using AI models and distributed computing.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing, running, or maintaining the video curation system.
Why use it?
They give a coding agent the project context and local rules for working in the repository.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02019 $0.02019
Opus 5.5 $0.00808 $0.00808
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00404 $0.00404
Haiku 4.5 $0.00202 $0.00202

Security

Grade A, and why

cosmos-curator AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 22d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Cosmos Curator — Agent Guidelines

Project Overview

Cosmos Curator is a toolkit for curating physical AI training data. Start new curation workflows in Curator Next: Ray Data recipes and shared components, with canonical tabular outputs in Lance. Existing Xenna and legacy Ray Data pipelines remain available during the transition; retire them through explicit migration to Next.

Code map:

  • cosmos_curator/next/: Reference recipes and shared components
  • cosmos_curator/client/: Deployment CLIs and pipeline config tooling
  • cosmos_curator/core/: Sensor library, interfaces, managers, and utilities
  • cosmos_curator/models/: Model implementations; register model artifacts in cosmos_curator/configs/all_models.json
  • cosmos_curator/pipelines/: Existing Xenna/legacy Ray Data pipelines plus shared pipeline CLI registration and runtime

For changes to Next code or its mirrored tests, read next/AGENTS.md. For sensor code or its mirrored tests, read sensors/AGENTS.md.

Development

Setup: git submodule update --init --recursive; ./devset.sh installs local git hooks and runs a build smoke test.

Code Quality (run globally before committing, not just on changed files):

pixi run -e tools ruff format && pixi run -e tools ruff check --fix && pixi run -e dev mypy

Pre-commit hooks run ruff automatically. A submodule-check hook warns before committing cosmos-xenna changes.

Testing:

  • CPU unit tests: pixi run unit-test (pixi run unit-test-fast for four workers). Env- and integration-marked tests are excluded by default via pytest.ini.
  • Tests that intentionally exercise CLI usage errors or other expected stderr/stdout output must capture and assert that output with capsys/capfd; passing tests should not leak expected errors into pytest -s CI logs.
  • CPU integration tests: mark with @pytest.mark.integration and run pixi run --as-is -e default integration-test. CI runs these serially in the Kubernetes integration_tests job using the slim image; they must not require GPUs or staged model weights.
  • GPU tests: cosmos-curator local launch --curator-path . -- pixi run --as-is -e default gpu-test. Use @pytest.mark.env("default") (or another required env name); CI runs these in gpu_tests on Slurm. Requires model weights staged in the local workspace (model-download).
  • Do not add real Ray execution to unit_tests, including implicit cluster startup through Ray Data. CPU Ray tests belong behind @pytest.mark.integration; tests that also require GPUs or model weights use the GPU suite's env marker. Mocked Ray tests stay in the CPU unit suite. Mark the test, class, or module, not just its fixture; fixture markers do not select tests.
  • Both runtime test tasks collect only tests/cosmos_curator/{pipelines,models,next} to avoid dev-only client/benchmark dependencies. The runtime image omits cosmos_curator.client; import client code only inside the unit tests that need it so runtime collection works without the deployment client.
  • Place tests in tests/ mirroring module paths. Uses --import-mode=importlib.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
