ckan-mcp-server: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

ckan-mcp-server CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from ondata/ckan-mcp-server. It costs 6,113 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for CKAN MCP Server, a TypeScript service that lets AI assistants work with CKAN open-data portals. CKAN is software used to publish and manage datasets online.

In plain words
What is it for?
It guides planning, development, builds, tests, deployment, and changes to the server’s MCP tools for open-data portals.
Why use it?
It tells coding assistants when to read the project specification and keeps code, documentation, and project work consistent.

Instructions file for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: the file is CLAUDE.md. Also seen: mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code; mentions AGENTS.md.

This is ondata/ckan-mcp-server's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on ckan-mcp-server itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything ckan-mcp-server configures →

Not installable: its command points at a path on the author’s own machine, so it runs nowhere else. The line is /home/aborruso/git/idee/ckan-mcp-server/dist/index.js.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.06113 $0.06113
Opus 5 $0.03057 $0.03057
Sonnet 5 $0.01223 $0.01223
Haiku 4.5 $0.00611 $0.00611

Security

Grade A, and why

ckan-mcp-server CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

OpenSpec Instructions

These instructions are for AI assistants working in this project.

Always open @/openspec/AGENTS.md when the request:

  • Mentions planning or proposals (words like proposal, spec, change, plan)
  • Introduces new capabilities, breaking changes, architecture shifts, or big performance/security work
  • Sounds ambiguous and you need the authoritative spec before coding

Use @/openspec/AGENTS.md to learn:

  • How to create and apply change proposals
  • Spec format and conventions
  • Project structure and guidelines

Keep this managed block so 'openspec update' can refresh the instructions.

Project Overview

CKAN MCP Server - MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for interacting with CKAN-based open data portals (dati.gov.it, data.gov, demo.ckan.org, etc.).

The server exposes MCP tools for:

  • Advanced dataset search with Solr syntax
  • DataStore queries for tabular data analysis
  • Organization and group exploration
  • Complete metadata access

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
