gh-review-loop: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

gh-review-loop CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from OrenAshkenazy/gh-review-loop. It costs 349 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for gh-review-loop, a tool or plugin for repeating GitHub review cycles. They document where behavior references belong, how to run its tests, and how its installed plugin cache is organized.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when changing gh-review-loop, adding reference documentation, running its pytest suite, working with Python type annotations, or testing edits in the installed plugin cache.
Why use it?
They prevent documentation from exceeding project limits and avoid common test and development mistakes, such as using the wrong Python test command.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00349 $0.00349
Opus 5 $0.00175 $0.00175
Sonnet 5 $0.00070 $0.00070
Haiku 4.5 $0.00035 $0.00035

Measured 8d ago against content hash e448066289f5, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-08, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

gh-review-loop CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md

SKILL.md placement rule

New behavior docs go in plugins/gh-review-loop/skills/gh-review-loop/references/<topic>.md; SKILL.md gets at most one pointer line. Inline in SKILL.md only what the agent needs every cycle. Size budgets are enforced by tests/test_doc_budgets.py against tests/budgets.json — raising a budget must happen in the same PR, with justification.

Test runner

# If installed via Homebrew on Apple Silicon:
/opt/homebrew/bin/pytest

# Or run pytest from a virtual environment:
pytest

python3 -m pytest does not work — pytest is not on the bare Python path.

Python type annotations

All scripts use from __future__ import annotations. This makes subscripted generics (dict[str, Any], list[str], str | None) safe on Python 3.9+. Do not revert to bare dict / list to "fix" compatibility — it is already handled.

Plugin cache

The installed plugin lives at:

~/.claude/plugins/cache/gh-review-loop/gh-review-loop/<version>/

To test unreleased script changes without merging, copy the modified files directly into the cache. A future /plugin update will overwrite them.

Scripts location

plugins/gh-review-loop/skills/gh-review-loop/scripts/

When running scripts locally (not through the installed plugin), invoke from the repo root:

python3 plugins/gh-review-loop/skills/gh-review-loop/scripts/fetch_gemini_threads.py
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
