.github/instructions/03-development-workflow.instructions.md

a-i--skills 03-development-workflow.instructions.md is an instructions file for Claude Code, GitHub Copilot from organvm-iv-taxis/a-i--skills. It costs 892 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A workflow guide for developing and validating skills in a repository without one central build system.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it after adding or changing skills to refresh collections, validate skill files, and check generated directories.
Why use it?
It explains which refresh and validation commands keep generated folders and skill collections in sync.

Instructions file for Claude CodeGitHub Copilot

Written for Claude Code and GitHub Copilot: Claude Code plugin machinery, but also a Copilot instructions file. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions Codex.

This is organvm-iv-taxis/a-i--skills's own configuration. It tells Claude Code and GitHub Copilot how to work on a-i--skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything a-i--skills configures →

Needs its repository: it runs a file that does not travel with it, so clone the repository first. The line is python3 scripts/refresh_skill_collections.py.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00892 $0.00892
Opus 5 $0.00446 $0.00446
Sonnet 5 $0.00178 $0.00178
Haiku 4.5 $0.00089 $0.00089

Measured 11d ago against content hash 6e319df786c7, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-11, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

a-i--skills 03-development-workflow.instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Development Workflow Instructions

No Repo-Wide Build System

This repository does not have a centralized build, test, or lint system. Each skill is independent.

Common Development Commands

After Adding/Modifying Skills

Always run the refresh script:

python3 scripts/refresh_skill_collections.py

This regenerates:

  • Link directories (skills/, .codex/skills, .claude/skills, etc.)
  • Collection lists (collections/*.txt)
  • Gemini extension bundles

For local development (optional):

python3 scripts/refresh_skill_collections.py --mode symlink

Creates symlinks instead of copies for faster iteration.

Validation Before Committing

# Validate example skills
python3 scripts/validate_skills.py --collection example --unique

# Validate document skills
python3 scripts/validate_skills.py --collection document --unique

# Verify generated directories are in sync
python3 scripts/validate_generated_dirs.py

Full Validation Pipeline

python3 scripts/refresh_skill_collections.py && \
python3 scripts/validate_skills.py --collection example --unique && \
python3 scripts/validate_skills.py --collection document --unique && \
python3 scripts/validate_generated_dirs.py

Per-Skill Testing

Run skill-specific tests when they exist:

# Example: PDF skill tests
python3 document-skills/pdf/scripts/check_bounding_boxes_test.py

# Install skill-specific dependencies as needed
pip install -r mcp-builder/scripts/requirements.txt
pip install -r slack-gif-creator/requirements.txt

Release Workflow

Use the release script for version management:

# Basic release
python3 scripts/release.py 1.2.0 \
  --change "Description of changes"

# Full release with git operations
python3 scripts/release.py 1.2.0 \
  --change "Major feature update" \
  --add "New feature description" \
  --add "Another feature" \
  --commit \
  --tag \
  --push \
  --release \
  --notes-from-changelog

The release script updates:

  • .claude-plugin/marketplace.json
  • extensions/gemini/*/gemini-extension.json
  • CHANGELOG.md
  • Git tags

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
