nettskjema-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

nettskjema-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from orjahren/nettskjema-mcp. It costs 338 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for an MCP server that connects coding work to the Nettskjema API, a service for creating and managing online forms. They describe the project structure, coding rules, authentication, and testing.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when adding MCP tools, making authenticated Nettskjema API requests, documenting functions, or checking changes in the project.
Why use it?
They give an agent consistent rules for extending and testing the server without guessing how its API connection or code should work.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00338 $0.00338
Opus 5 $0.00169 $0.00169
Sonnet 5 $0.00068 $0.00068
Haiku 4.5 $0.00034 $0.00034

Measured 11d ago against content hash 6c625cb0f41e, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

nettskjema-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Project Instructions for Claude

Project Overview

This is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for the Nettskjema API, built using FastMCP.

Development Guidelines

Code Style

  • Use type hints for all function parameters and return values
  • Use async/await for all API calls
  • Keep tool functions focused and single-purpose
  • Document all tools with clear docstrings

API Integration

  • Base URL: https://nettskjema.no/api/v3
  • Auth URL: https://authorization.nettskjema.no/oauth2/token
  • Authentication: OAuth 2.1 client credentials flow
    • Requires NETTSKJEMA_CLIENT_ID and NETTSKJEMA_CLIENT_SECRET
    • Tokens are JWTs valid for 24 hours (86,400 seconds)
    • Tokens are cached in memory and auto-refreshed
  • All endpoints require authentication
  • Use httpx for async HTTP requests
  • Client username format: <clientId>@apiclient

Adding New Tools

When adding new tools:

  1. Use the @mcp.tool() decorator
  2. Add clear docstring with Args description
  3. Use the api_request() helper function
  4. Handle errors appropriately
  5. Return string representations of results

Testing

  • Ensure NETTSKJEMA_API_TOKEN is set before testing
  • Use example_usage.py to test individual tools
  • Test with real Nettskjema forms when possible

Dependencies

  • fastmcp: MCP server framework
  • httpx: Async HTTP client
  • Standard library: os, typing
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
