aura: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

aura AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from osmandkitay/aura. It costs 303 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A repository instruction file for the Aura project, defining the project's purpose, boundaries, preferred workflow, and required checks. A repository is the shared folder containing a project's code and documentation.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing Aura's protocol packages, examples, or focused documentation, and when validating changes with the project's install, build, and test commands.
Why use it?
It keeps coding work within the intended scope and prevents unrelated systems from being added. It also gives contributors consistent build and test commands before declaring work complete.

Instructions file for CodexOpenCode

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md.

This is osmandkitay/aura's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on aura itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything aura configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00303 $0.00303
Opus 5.5 $0.00121 $0.00121
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00061 $0.00061
Haiku 4.5 $0.00030 $0.00030

Security

Grade A, and why

aura AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured today.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

AGENTS

Mission

Keep this repo as a small AURA core for deriving and publishing the machine-actionable surface of a site.

Hard boundaries

Do not add:

  • demo servers or demo clients
  • crawl subsystems
  • browser automation
  • hosted bridge, index, or signing systems
  • remote service wrappers
  • large unfinished platform code

Preferred workflow

  1. keep changes inside packages/aura-protocol, examples, and focused docs
  2. preserve the two-command story: derive then publish to a small well-known surface
  3. require explicit publisher-declared semantics and risk; never infer them
  4. preserve provenance in aliases and origin
  5. validate behavior with scenario tests before calling work done

task.md explicitly permits a small deterministic reference runner in this package: one linear plan, one descriptor, one API origin, HTTP binding and typed output transfer. It must not import compiler modules. Demo app/server/client stacks, planners, crawlers, hosted services and retry engines remain out of scope.

Required checks

pnpm install
pnpm build
pnpm test --run

Docs to keep aligned

  • README.md
  • docs/spec/aura-v2-core.md
  • docs/rationale/semantic-normalization.md
  • docs/rationale/architecture-seams.md
  • docs/migration/v1-to-v2-plan.md
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
