ManifolderMCP: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

ManifolderMCP CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from PatchedReality/ManifolderMCP. It costs 1,509 tokens per session, scanned C, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for Manifolder MCP Server, a service that lets coding tools edit spatial Fabric scenes through the Model Context Protocol.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when developing, building, running, or testing the TypeScript MCP server and its integration with Manifolder scenes.
Why use it?
It records the project’s architecture, commands, configuration, and testing requirements so changes fit the existing server and its shared client library.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01509 $0.01509
Opus 5 $0.00754 $0.00754
Sonnet 5 $0.00302 $0.00302
Haiku 4.5 $0.00151 $0.00151

Security

Grade C, and why

ManifolderMCP CLAUDE.md scanned grade C with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Reaches for credential fileshighPrivilege escalation

SSH keys, cloud credentials, git-credentials, .npmrc, /etc/shadow: reading these is how a config file becomes a credential leak.

Project Overview

Manifolder MCP Server - an MCP server enabling Claude Code (and other MCP clients) to directly edit spatial Fabric scenes. Wraps MVMF libraries with a thin MCP layer. The client (ManifolderClient) is a git submodule at lib/ManifolderClient/, shared with the sibling ../Manifolder/ project.

Commands

npm install # Install dependencies
npm run build # Build TypeScript to dist/
npm run dev # TypeScript watch mode
npm start # Run the MCP server
npm test # Run MCP tool unit tests
npm run test:integration # Run integration tests (requires server)
npm run test:record-fixtures # Record test fixtures from live server

Architecture

Core Components

  • ManifolderClient (lib/ManifolderClient/): Git submodule containing the shared client, types, vendor MVMF libraries, and Node.js loader. Re-exported via src/client/index.ts.
  • Config (src/config.ts): Loads ~/.config/manifolder-mcp/config.json for connection profiles and storage backends
  • Tools (src/tools/): MCP tool implementations:
    • connection.ts — connect/disconnect/status
    • scenes.ts — list/open/create/delete scenes
    • objects.ts — CRUD, move, search for objects
    • bulk.ts — batch object operations
    • resources.ts — upload/download/list/delete/move files
    • actionResources.ts — validate/schema for action resources (lights, text, rotators, video)
    • schemas.ts — shared Zod schemas for tool parameters
  • Output (src/output.ts): Pagination helper for list responses
  • Storage (src/storage/): FileStorage interface with two transports — WebDavStorage (WebDAV over HTTPS, when filesUrl is set) and ScpStorage (SCP/SSH via ssh2-sftp-client); selected per profile by createFileStorage
  • Agent Guide (src/agent-guide.md): Tool usage documentation served to MCP clients

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
