noveletary: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

noveletary AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from penta2himajin/noveletary. It costs 2,284 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for Noveletary, a knowledge base and MCP server that tracks facts in fiction and checks whether new writing contradicts them. It supports story branches and Japanese prose.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing or testing Noveletary’s fact storage, contradiction checks, story branches, aliases, or MCP server.
Why use it?
They explain how the project protects story consistency, handles hard contradictions, and sends uncertain questions to the author instead of guessing.

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

Fable 5.1 $0.02284 $0.02284
Opus 5 $0.01142 $0.01142
Sonnet 5 $0.00457 $0.00457
Haiku 4.5 $0.00228 $0.00228

Security

Grade A, and why

noveletary AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

noveletary

Overview

noveletary (novel + secretary) is a constraint-maintained narrative knowledge base and MCP server for checking the internal consistency of fiction, with first-class support for Japanese prose. It unifies construction (adding/updating/deleting story facts) and verification (contradiction checking) into a single constraint engine: hard, decidable contradictions (a dead character acting, a monotone ledger decreasing, a temporal cycle) gate writes at construction time; softer semantic contradictions surface as questions for the author. Story branches (parallel plot drafts) are first-class via an append-only operation log; each branch is audited independently and merged with structural conflict detection.

The design principle throughout: the knowledge base and the author are the trusted core; the LLM is a fallible translator with no authority. Unresolved questions go to the author (the ground-truth oracle), not to LLM guesswork.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
