sailwind: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

sailwind AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from pglevy/sailwind. It costs 2,806 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of coding instructions for the Sailwind component library, including required parameter spelling, component structure, and its two-layer design.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when an agent must create or change Sailwind components while following the library’s naming, structure, and architecture rules.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents the project rules they need to follow when working on Sailwind components.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02806 $0.02806
Opus 5.5 $0.01122 $0.01122
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00561 $0.00561
Haiku 4.5 $0.00281 $0.00281

Security

Grade A, and why

sailwind AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 17d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Sailwind Component Library — Agent Reference

This document provides essential guidance for AI agents working with the Sailwind React component library for rapid Appian prototyping.

For human contributors, see CONTRIBUTING.md.

Working with Contributors

Many people contributing to Sailwind are designers or are newer to shared codebases. They may not know what they don't know. Your job includes spotting consequences they wouldn't think to ask about.

Keep in mind that this is a shared library used by many projects, and alongside real Appian code. A change that's right for one prototype can be wrong for everyone else.

Stop and check before

Pause, explain the impact in plain language, and ask whether to proceed when a change would:

  • Change a default value of an existing prop. Every existing usage that relies on the default will change. Ask whether it's necessary, or whether a new prop or value would do.
  • Rename or remove a component, prop, allowed value, type, or export. This breaks existing code. Suggest deprecating instead (keep it working, mark it @deprecated).
  • Visibly change a component's default appearance, layout, or structure (element types, ARIA roles, data-* attributes).
  • Edit shared code: src/utils/, src/components/shared/, src/types/sail.ts, src/index.css, tokens/, or src/i18n/. Name the components that will be affected.
  • Create a new component. Check whether an existing one could be extended, and remind the contributor that new components need an issue first.
  • Add a prop or value that isn't in SAIL. That's allowed. Confirm the name follows SAIL conventions and suggest noting "Not in SAIL" in its doc comment.
  • Add a dependency.
  • Bring in app-specific names, content, or data from the contributor's own project. Suggest generalizing it.
  • Grow beyond one concern. If the work now spans unrelated changes, suggest splitting it into separate PRs.

Explain why each of these matters in a sentence or two. The goal is an informed decision, not a refusal.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
