8-habit-ai-dev: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

8-habit-ai-dev CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from pitimon/8-habit-ai-dev. It costs 3,327 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A `CLAUDE.md` instruction file for the `8-habit-ai-dev` Claude Code plugin. It explains the plugin’s structured development workflow and how to validate and maintain it.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it as repository guidance for understanding the plugin, following its seven-step workflow, running structural validation, and keeping the plugin mirror synchronized.
Why use it?
It tells coding agents what the repository contains, where other agents should start, and which checks are required. This reduces confusion when editing the plugin or its mirrored files.

Instructions file for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT} variable. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions CLAUDE.md; mentions Claude Code.

This is pitimon/8-habit-ai-dev's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on 8-habit-ai-dev itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything 8-habit-ai-dev configures →

Runs only inside a plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else, and the catalogue could not identify which plugin ships it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03327 $0.03327
Opus 5 $0.01664 $0.01664
Sonnet 5 $0.00665 $0.00665
Haiku 4.5 $0.00333 $0.00333

Security

Grade A, and why

8-habit-ai-dev CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What This Is

A Claude Code plugin (not a runnable application). No build system, no dependencies — the entire plugin is structured markdown files that Claude Code loads at runtime. Structural validation via tests/validate-structure.sh (pure bash, no test framework). The plugin provides a 7-step workflow discipline based on Covey's 8 Habits, designed to replace "vibe coding" with structured AI-assisted development. Install: claude plugin marketplace add pitimon/8-habit-ai-dev && claude plugin install 8-habit-ai-dev@pitimon-8-habit-ai-dev.

deep-project/ is a git-ignored local vendor of a third-party plugin — not part of this repo's tracked surface.

Validation Commands

CI (.github/workflows/validate.yml) runs exactly these five scripts. Run them from the repo root with bash (they use process substitution — sh fails):

bash tests/validate-structure.sh # frontmatter, 6-file version consistency, mirror parity (Check 28), size caps
bash tests/test-skill-graph.sh # prev-skill/next-skill DAG integrity
bash tests/validate-content.sh # content fitness functions; Check 19 needs full tag history (CI uses fetch-depth: 0)
bash tests/test-verbosity-hook.sh # session-start verbosity regression (8 branches + override + budget)
bash tests/test-pre-commit-hook.sh # pre-commit F6 fail-closed verdict paths

When skill metadata or discovery docs change, also run node scripts/generate-skill-catalog.js --check (regenerate by running without --check). External URLs are link-checked in separate workflows (link-check.yml, wiki-linkcheck.yml); internal relative links are Check 12b in validate-content.sh.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
