VibesOS: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

VibesOS CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from popmechanic/VibesOS. It costs 2,855 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A development guide for Vibes DIY Plugin, a project that generates applications with React and uses TinyBase, a small data store for JavaScript applications. It explains which project instructions and references to read for different tasks, testing, deployment, and common APIs.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when working on Vibes skills, TinyBase data, React errors, Cloudflare deployment, tests, templates, authentication, sharing, or generation flows.
Why use it?
It helps coding agents find the right guidance before changing app generation, authentication, sharing, deployment, or build code.

Instructions file for Claude Code

Written for Claude Code: ${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT variable. Also seen: mentions Claude Code.

This is popmechanic/VibesOS's own configuration. It tells Claude Code how to work on VibesOS itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything VibesOS configures →

Runs only inside a plugin — its command needs a path that Claude Code sets for a plugin’s own hooks and for nothing else, and the catalogue could not identify which plugin ships it.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02855 $0.02855
Opus 5 $0.01427 $0.01427
Sonnet 5 $0.00571 $0.00571
Haiku 4.5 $0.00285 $0.00285

Security

Grade A, and why

VibesOS CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Working on generate/chat/theme server flow See "Generate Flow Routing" below before editing handlers/

TinyBase API Reference

SKILL.md provides common patterns (useTable, useRow, useAddRowCallback, store.setRow/delRow) and critical gotchas.

TinyBase hooks are exposed as window.* globals in the template (useTable, useRow, useCell, useRowIds, useSortedRowIds, useAddRowCallback, etc.). The useApp() hook provides { isReady, isSyncing, user } context.

Environment Variables in SKILL.md

CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT is set by plugin runtime but may be missing in dev mode (claude --plugin .). CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR is text-substituted before the agent sees the markdown — always reliable.

All SKILL.md bash blocks use the fallback pattern:

VIBES_ROOT="${CLAUDE_PLUGIN_ROOT:-$(dirname "$(dirname "${CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR}")")}"

CLAUDE_SKILL_DIR is <plugin-root>/skills/<name>/, so dirname dirname gives the plugin root.

Critical Rules

?external= for React Singleton

Any esm.sh package that depends on React MUST use ?external=react,react-dom. Details in .claude/rules/react-singleton.md (loads automatically when editing templates).

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
