port-skills: Instructions file for Claude Code

AGENTS.md

port-skills AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode from port-labs/port-skills. It costs 585 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Contributor instructions for creating and updating Port skills, which are reusable guidance packages for coding agents. They explain where to find the authoring rules and how to decide whether to extend an existing skill.

In plain words
What is it for?
Adding, editing, reviewing, or organizing Port skills, including choosing namespaces and placing related sub-skills in the right directory.
Why use it?
They help contributors avoid duplicate or conflicting skills and keep new work aligned with the repository’s conventions. They also separate contributor tooling from skills meant for end users.

Instructions file for Claude CodeCodexOpenCode

Written for Claude Code and Codex and OpenCode: Claude Code plugin machinery, but also the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions AGENTS.md.

This is port-labs/port-skills's own configuration. It tells Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode how to work on port-skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything port-skills configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00585 $0.00585
Opus 5 $0.00293 $0.00293
Sonnet 5 $0.00117 $0.00117
Haiku 4.5 $0.00059 $0.00059

Security

Grade A, and why

port-skills AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md

Instructions for a coding agent working on this repo (adding, editing, or reviewing a skill). If you're an agent using these skills to help a user work with Port instead, start from README.md and the relevant skills/*/SKILL.md instead of this file.

TL;DR

  • Read CONTRIBUTING.md and .claude/skills/port-skill-creator/SKILL.md (+ its references/skill-writing-guide.md) before writing or editing a skill. That's the authoring spec, not this file. It lives under .claude/skills/, not skills/, because it's tooling for contributing to this repo, not something an end user installs into their own coding agent.
  • Look for an existing skill before creating a new one. Check the skill table in README.md first. If a skill already half-covers the territory, extend it instead of shipping a second skill that contradicts it when both load.
  • Prefer nesting over a new top-level skill. If the new content is a sub-topic of an existing skill's job (see skills/port-dashboards/port-dashboard-plugins/ for the pattern), nest it under that skill's directory rather than adding a sibling under skills/.
  • Every skill is namespaced port-<name>, directory and frontmatter name both, enforced by validate-skill.js. There's no unprefixed skill in this repo.
  • Don't guess at Port's product surface. If you need to verify terminology, an API shape, a resource schema, or anything else about how Port actually works, use the search_port_knowledge_sources Port MCP tool if connected, or fetch docs.port.io directly. A skill built on a guess is worse than no skill.
  • Before committing: node .claude/skills/port-skill-creator/scripts/validate-skill.js --all, then node .claude/skills/port-skill-creator/scripts/generate-skill-index.js and commit the resulting README.md diff. CI re-checks both.
  • Don't hand-bump .claude-plugin/plugin.json's version. CI does that automatically (and tags a release) on every merge to main that touches skills/, .claude/skills/, .claude-plugin/, or .mcp.json.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
