phone-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

phone-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from premex-ab/phone-mcp. It costs 2,128 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for Phone MCP, an Android server that lets AI assistants interact with selected phone features such as files, the camera, contacts, sensors, location, and messages.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when building APKs, running tests or lint checks, reviewing the Android structure, or preparing approved device connections.
Why use it?
They explain how to build and test the Android app and define restrictions around device access and experiment approval.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02128 $0.02128
Opus 5 $0.01064 $0.01064
Sonnet 5 $0.00426 $0.00426
Haiku 4.5 $0.00213 $0.00213

Measured 7d ago against content hash 88512b125b5d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

phone-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

Android MCP Server - an SSE-based Model Context Protocol server running as an Android foreground service. Enables AI assistants to interact with Android device capabilities (files, camera, contacts, sensors, location, SMS) through Ktor on port 3001 with bearer token authentication. Clients connect either over the local network or remotely through the hosted relay at https://phonemcp.ai (see Remote access below).

Build Commands

./gradlew assembleFullDebug # Build debug APK (full flavor, includes SMS tool)
./gradlew assemblePlayDebug # Build debug APK (Play Store flavor, no SMS)
./gradlew test # Run unit tests
./gradlew lint # Run Android lint
./gradlew testDebugUnitTest # Run tests for specific variant
./gradlew connectedAndroidTest # Instrumented tests (requires device/emulator)
./gradlew assembleFullRelease -PenableFirebase=true # Release with Firebase

CI runs: assembleFullDebug, lint, test (JDK 21 Temurin, macOS tart runner). Lint is a merge gate but is NOT part of assemble — run ./gradlew lint locally before pushing or CI will fail on things a local build never showed.

Architecture

Multi-module Android app. Kotlin, Gradle Kotlin DSL, JVM toolchain 21, min SDK 24, target SDK 36.

Module layout

  • app/ - Main module: Compose UI, Ktor SSE server (McpServerService), auth (AuthRepository), tool state management (ToolPreferencesRepository), remote access (remote/ package), connection guide UI (ui/ConnectionGuide.kt). All tool modules are dependencies here.
  • core/ - JVM library (not Android) defining the McpTool interface that all tools implement.
  • mcp-provider/ - Android library SDK for third-party apps to expose MCP tools via ContentProvider.
  • externalmcptool/ - Example external tool app (calculator, text reversal) demonstrating the provider SDK.
  • tools/ - Each subdirectory is an independent tool module: sms, smsintent, camera, contacts, sensor, location, files, ads, externaltools.
  • build-logic/ - Gradle convention plugins. Key plugin: mcp.android.tool auto-configures SDK versions, Hilt, core dependency, MCP SDK, and standard deps for tool modules.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
