Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02503 $0.02503
Opus 5.5 $0.01001 $0.01001
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00501 $0.00501
Haiku 4.5 $0.00250 $0.00250

Security

Grade A, and why

nira-browser copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Copilot Instructions for Nira Browser

Nira Browser is a privacy-focused Android browser built on Mozilla's GeckoView engine, using Jetpack Compose, Material 3, MVVM architecture, and Kotlin Coroutines.

Build Commands

# Debug build (Windows)
gradlew.bat assembleDebug

# Clean build
gradlew.bat clean assembleDebug

# Install to connected device (ARM64)
adb install app/build/outputs/apk/debug/app-arm64-v8a-debug.apk

# Other APK variants (architecture-split builds)
# app-armeabi-v7a-debug.apk (ARMv7)
# app-x86_64-debug.apk (emulator)

No automated tests exist yet. Manual testing covers tabs, profiles, groups, and themes.

Architecture

Stack: MVVM · Jetpack Compose · GeckoView · Room + DataStore · Kotlin Coroutines/Flow · Manual DI

View (Composables)
└─ observes StateFlow / calls functions
ViewModel (TabViewModel, etc.)
  └─ calls suspend functions
Manager (UnifiedTabGroupManager, ProfileManager, etc.) ← acts as Repository
  └─ reads/writes
Database (Room) + DataStore

Critical files to understand before modifying

File Role
UnifiedTabGroupManager.kt Single source of truth for all tab group operations
TabViewModel.kt Tab UI state — observes groups and tab lists
TabOrderManager.kt Persists tab/group order via DataStore (JSON)
ProfileManager.kt Profile lifecycle — create, delete, switch
WebAppManager.kt PWA lifecycle — install, uninstall, profile binding
Components.kt Manual DI container — initializes all managers
ColorConstants.kt Color palette definitions and string→Int conversion
BrowserFragment.kt Main browser screen entry point
BrowserActivity.load() URL vs search. engine == null must not fall through to toNormalizedUrl()
SearchEngineList.kt Nira default engines; suggestUrl must include {searchTerms}
AwesomeBarWrapper.kt / NiraAwesomeBar.kt Address-bar suggestion UI; wrapper must invoke click/remove callbacks

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
