ticktick-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

ticktick-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from produckteavity/ticktick-mcp. It costs 1,533 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project instruction file for Claude Code, an AI coding assistant, describing a TypeScript server that connects TickTick task management to MCP tools. MCP is a standard way for AI assistants to use external tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it as a reference when building, testing, or changing the TickTick MCP server, including running one test file or the full test suites.
Why use it?
It gives the coding assistant the project's commands, structure, and testing requirements, including the need for real credentials in integration tests.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01533 $0.01533
Opus 5 $0.00766 $0.00766
Sonnet 5 $0.00307 $0.00307
Haiku 4.5 $0.00153 $0.00153

Security

Grade A, and why

ticktick-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that exposes TickTick task management as MCP tools. Built with TypeScript, uses the TickTick Open API, and communicates over stdio transport.

Commands

npm run build # TypeScript compilation (tsc) → dist/
npm run test # Run all tests (vitest run)
npm run test:unit # Unit tests only (tests/unit/)
npm run test:mcp # MCP server integration tests (tests/mcp/)
npm run test:watch # Vitest in watch mode

# Run a single test file
npx vitest run tests/unit/filtering.test.ts

# Integration tests require real credentials and prior auth
TICKTICK_CLIENT_ID=xxx npx vitest run tests/integration/spike-tags.test.ts

Architecture

Entry point: src/index.ts — Creates the MCP server, wires up dependencies (Keychain → TokenManager → TickTickClient), registers tools, connects stdio transport.

Layered design (each layer only depends on the one below):

  1. Tool registration (src/tools/tasks.ts, src/tools/projects.ts) — Registers MCP tools on McpServer. Each tool validates input with Zod schemas, delegates to TickTickClient, and returns JSON-stringified success/error responses. Tool handlers catch all errors and return isError: true rather than throwing.

  2. API client (src/ticktick-client.ts) — HTTP wrapper around TickTick Open API (api.ticktick.com/open/v1). Handles auth headers, 401 retry (one retry with token refresh), 429 rate limiting, and 10s timeout. Constructor accepts injectable fetch for testing.

  3. Auth (src/auth.ts) — TokenManager manages OAuth token lifecycle. Reads tokens from keychain, checks expiry with 60s margin, refreshes automatically. Depends on a KeychainLike interface (not concrete Keychain).

  4. Keychain (src/keychain.ts) — macOS-only credential storage via security CLI. Stores under service name ticktick-mcp.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
