lsp-mcp-server: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

lsp-mcp-server AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from ProfessioneIT/lsp-mcp-server. It costs 643 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for an npm package that connects coding tools to language servers over standard input and output. They describe its TypeScript layout, build and test commands, and coding conventions.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing or reviewing the language-server bridge, including its TypeScript source, MCP tool handlers, diagnostics services, schemas, builds, and tests.
Why use it?
They help an agent work within the package's existing structure instead of guessing where handlers, services, schemas, tests, and configuration belong. They also identify the Node.js and npm commands used by the project.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00643 $0.00643
Opus 5.5 $0.00257 $0.00257
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00129 $0.00129
Haiku 4.5 $0.00064 $0.00064

Security

Grade A, and why

lsp-mcp-server AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 17d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Repository Guidelines

Project Structure & Module Organization

This TypeScript ESM package bridges MCP clients to language servers over stdio. src/index.ts registers tools; src/tools/ contains handlers; src/services/ manages clients, documents, and diagnostics. Shared interfaces live in src/types.ts, Zod schemas in src/schemas/, configuration in src/config.ts and src/config/, and helpers in src/utils/.

Tests live in tests/unit/ and tests/acceptance/, with mock servers in tests/fixtures/. Design documents live in docs/plans/ and specs/. Build output goes to ignored dist/.

Build, Test, and Development Commands

Use Node.js 20, matching CI, and npm:

  • npm ci: install locked dependencies; the prepare hook also builds.
  • npm run build: compile TypeScript into dist/.
  • npm run dev: continuously compile changes; run npm start separately to launch the compiled stdio server.
  • npm test / npm run test:watch: run unit tests once or interactively.
  • npm run typecheck: check source types without emitting files.
  • npm run lint / npm run lint:fix: check or fix ESLint issues in src/.

Coding Style & Naming Conventions

Follow existing two-space indentation, single quotes, and semicolons. Use kebab-case filenames, camelCase functions and variables, PascalCase types/classes, and uppercase constants. Relative ESM imports require .js extensions, including imports from TypeScript sources. Use import type for types and prefix intentionally unused bindings with _. Respect strict TypeScript settings; omit optional properties rather than assigning undefined. ESLint is configured; no dedicated formatter is provided.

Testing Guidelines

Use Vitest with descriptive describe/it cases in *.test.ts files. Add regression tests for changed behavior, using fixture servers for protocol interactions. Run one file with npm test -- tests/unit/position.test.ts. No numeric coverage threshold is configured.

Run npm run test:acceptance for BasedPyright workspace tests; these skip unless BASEDPYRIGHT_COMMAND, PYTHON_WITH_PYDANTIC, PYTHON_WITHOUT_PYDANTIC, and LSP_ACCEPTANCE_ROOT are set. See README for setup.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
