infura-mcp-server: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

infura-mcp-server AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from Qbandev/infura-mcp-server. It costs 4,814 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Instructions for using an Infura server, a service that provides read-only access to Ethereum blockchain data.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them to check wallet balances, contract code, blocks, transactions, smart-contract readings, event logs, gas estimates, and network status.
Why use it?
They clarify which blockchain information an AI agent can retrieve and confirm that it cannot send transactions or change blockchain state.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.04814 $0.04814
Opus 5 $0.02407 $0.02407
Sonnet 5 $0.00963 $0.00963
Haiku 4.5 $0.00481 $0.00481

Security

Grade A, and why

infura-mcp-server AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md

Guidance for AI agents (Claude, GPT, Cursor, etc.) using the Infura MCP Server to interact with blockchain data.

Overview

This MCP server provides 29 read-only Ethereum JSON-RPC tools that enable AI agents to query blockchain data across 37+ supported networks. All operations are read-only and cannot modify blockchain state.

What you can do:

  • Query account balances, nonces, and contract bytecode
  • Retrieve block and transaction data
  • Read smart contract state via eth_call
  • Query event logs from contracts
  • Get gas prices and fee estimates
  • Check network status and chain IDs

What you cannot do:

  • Send transactions or modify blockchain state
  • Sign messages or manage private keys
  • Deploy or modify smart contracts

Tool Categories

Block Queries (7 tools)

Use these to retrieve block data and metadata.

Tool Purpose Key Parameters
eth_blockNumber Get latest block number network
eth_getBlockByHash Get block by its hash blockHash, fullTransactions, network
eth_getBlockByNumber Get block by number blockNumber, fullTransactions, network
eth_getBlockTransactionCountByHash Count transactions in block blockHash, network
eth_getBlockTransactionCountByNumber Count transactions in block blockNumber, network

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
