claude-marketplace-sync: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

claude-marketplace-sync CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from ralphbean/claude-marketplace-sync. It costs 1,514 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for a tool that recursively combines Claude Code marketplaces, which are plugin catalogs, into a parent catalog.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing the marketplace synchronizer, including running unit tests, functional tests, formatting, and the full pre-commit check.
Why use it?
They explain the project structure and require linting and all tests before changes are committed.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01514 $0.01514
Opus 5 $0.00757 $0.00757
Sonnet 5 $0.00303 $0.00303
Haiku 4.5 $0.00151 $0.00151

Security

Grade A, and why

claude-marketplace-sync CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

Claude Code Marketplace Aggregator enables distributed, hierarchical composition of Claude Code marketplaces. The tool recursively syncs plugins from multiple child marketplaces into a parent marketplace, supporting denylisting and origin tracking.

Core concept: Each marketplace only manages its immediate children (declared in .sync-config.json), but through recursive application across multiple levels, this creates arbitrarily deep marketplace hierarchies.

Development Commands

Pre-Commit Workflow

IMPORTANT: Always run make before committing changes. This runs linting and all tests to ensure code quality.

# Run linting and all tests (do this before committing!)
make

Testing

# Run all tests (unit + functional)
make test

# Run only unit tests (fast, mocked git operations)
pytest tests/test_unit.py -v

# Run only functional tests (slower, real git operations)
pytest tests/test_functional.py -v

# Run a single test
pytest tests/test_unit.py::TestExtractRepoName::test_extract_repo_name_https_url -v

Linting and Formatting

# Check code formatting (pre-commit check)
make lint
# Equivalent: black --check --line-length 100 .

# Fix formatting issues automatically
make format
# Equivalent: black --line-length 100 .
# Note: If linting fails, run this to auto-fix formatting issues

Running the Script Locally

# Basic usage
python3 sync-marketplaces.py --config .sync-config.json --output .claude-plugin/marketplace.json

# With verbose logging
python3 sync-marketplaces.py --config examples/test-sync-config.json --verbose

Cleanup

make clean # Remove test artifacts and Python cache files

Code Architecture

Main Class: MarketplaceAggregator

Located in sync-marketplaces.py:25-347, this class orchestrates the entire sync process:

  1. Initialization (__init__): Loads config, initializes tracking structures
  2. Main Entry (run): Creates temp directory, processes sources, generates outputs
  3. Source Processing (_process_source): Routes to marketplace or skill processing
  4. Output Generation: Creates marketplace.json and origins.json files

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
