ravendb-mcp AGENTS.md

ravendb-mcp AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from ravendb/ravendb-mcp. It costs 259 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a read-only RavenDB diagnostics server. RavenDB is a database system, and this server lets an agent inspect its cluster, databases, indexes, tasks, storage, performance, and selected data without changing them.

In plain words
What is it for?
Guiding development or maintenance of the RavenDB MCP server, including its C# conventions, configuration, read-only tools, and error handling.
Why use it?
It defines safe operating rules for a server that can view database state but cannot write or delete data. It also keeps the agent-facing tools and returned information small and explicit.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00259 $0.00259
Opus 5 $0.00130 $0.00130
Sonnet 5 $0.00052 $0.00052
Haiku 4.5 $0.00026 $0.00026

Measured 4d ago against content hash d8634d83f9e7, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ravendb-mcp AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

RavenDB MCP: Agent Orientation

What this is

A local, external read-only MCP diagnostics server for RavenDB, written in C# (.NET 10) and spoken over stdio. It connects to one RavenDB cluster via configured URL(s) and an optional client certificate, and exposes read-only tools so an AI agent can assess cluster / database / index / task / storage / performance state and (read-only) data without hand-crafting REST calls.

  • Transport is stdio, so all logs go to stderr; never write to stdout.
  • The server targets one cluster; list that cluster's node URLs in configuration.
  • It is read-only: no write or delete tools. Read-only document and query access is allowed; everything else is metadata / diagnostics.

Conventions

  • Keep the tool surface and result schemas small: they are agent-facing API contracts and a context-window cost. Prefer permissive JsonElement payloads described in each tool's [Description] over fully-expanded schemas.
  • Every tool is read-only and carries a dual-use description (when to use it + what it returns).
  • Make failure explicit at the boundary; avoid hidden fallbacks or future-proofing the current feature does not need.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
