outrider tests.instructions.md

outrider tests.instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from remyxai/outrider. It costs 188 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Guidelines for writing and changing automated tests, which are checks that confirm software behaves correctly.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when adding or updating tests, choosing fixtures, replacing external calls with test doubles, and running the full Python test suite.
Why use it?
They help keep tests useful during refactoring by checking observable behavior instead of fragile implementation details, while keeping each test area organized.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00188 $0.00188
Opus 5 $0.00094 $0.00094
Sonnet 5 $0.00038 $0.00038
Haiku 4.5 $0.00019 $0.00019

Measured 6d ago against content hash 0110fd6a5399, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

outrider tests.instructions.md scanned grade A with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.

Expected in a hook, worth knowing in a rule or an instructions file.

What it actually says

Test conventions

  • Pin behavior, not code shape. A test that asserts "input X → output Y" survives refactors. A test that asserts "function foo is called" breaks on unrelated changes.
  • Monkeypatch external calls. subprocess.run, gh_api, urllib.request.urlopen, Claude CLI. Grep existing tests for monkeypatch.setattr for patterns.
  • One file per concern. test_bot_token_default.py, test_backend_rates.py, test_inline_refinement_chain.py — mirror the src/ area they cover.
  • Fixtures at module level. Not conftest.py unless truly cross-cutting; keeps the test file self-contained.
  • Full suite must stay green. python3 -m pytest tests/ -q before every commit.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
