CLAUDE.md

file-search-on CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from richardwooding/file-search-on. It costs 4,681 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions and developer guidance for file-search-on, a Go command-line tool that searches files recursively and matches them using expressions based on file metadata and content.

In plain words
What is it for?
Building, testing, linting, and understanding the file-search-on Go project, including its file-type analysis and tree-sitter language parsers.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents the project’s commands, testing routine, and architecture so they can make changes consistently and check their work.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.04681 $0.04681
Opus 5 $0.02341 $0.02341
Sonnet 5 $0.00936 $0.00936
Haiku 4.5 $0.00468 $0.00468

Security

Grade A, and why

file-search-on CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project

file-search-on is a Go CLI that recursively searches a directory and matches files against a CEL expression evaluated over file metadata and content-type-specific attributes (e.g. is_pdf && page_count > 10, is_markdown && word_count > 500).

Module: github.com/richardwooding/file-search-on. Toolchain: Go 1.26.2.

Commands

go build ./... # build all packages
go build -o file-search-on ./cmd/file-search-on # build the CLI binary
go test ./... # run all tests
go test -race -coverprofile=coverage.out ./... # what CI runs
go test ./internal/celexpr -run TestEvaluator # run a single test (regex match)
go vet ./...
go fix -diff ./... # preview Go 1.26 modernizers
go fix ./... # apply them
golangci-lint run # CI uses `latest` version

Tree-sitter grammars (binary size). Symbol + complexity extraction for every source language except Go (which keeps the stdlib AST) — Rust / TypeScript / JavaScript / Ruby / Swift / Kotlin / C / C++ plus Python / Java / C# / PHP / Perl / R / MATLAB / Scala — lives in the extracted module github.com/richardwooding/treesitter-symbols (tssymbols.Extract, called from sourcetype.go; positional references via tssymbols.ReferenceSites in reference_lines.go; #540). It carries the github.com/odvcencio/gotreesitter runtime + the bundled grammars and computes per-function cyclomatic + cognitive complexity over the same parse via github.com/richardwooding/codemetrics. gotreesitter is a transitive (indirect) dep of this repo now. The grammar-embedding build tags still apply module-wide: a plain go build / go test embeds all ~206 grammars (+22 MB) — fine for dev. Release builds (.goreleaser.yaml) pass grammar_subset + one grammar_subset_<lang> tag per supported language so only those embed (+13 MB for the 16). To reproduce a release-equivalent local build:

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
