sequence-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

sequence-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from roaming-panda-llc/sequence-mcp. It costs 442 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for developing and testing an unofficial MCP server that connects AI assistants to Sequence financial accounts.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when installing dependencies, running tests, starting the server, or reviewing code that fetches account balances or triggers automation rules.
Why use it?
They explain the repository’s structure, setup commands, authentication approach, and testing conventions so contributors can work consistently.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00442 $0.00442
Opus 5.5 $0.00177 $0.00177
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00088 $0.00088
Haiku 4.5 $0.00044 $0.00044

Measured 1mo ago against content hash 2a72163e1ccd, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

sequence-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

Project Overview

Unofficial MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that wraps the Sequence Banking API, enabling AI assistants to interact with Sequence financial accounts. Not affiliated with Sequence.

It provides two tools: get_accounts (fetch account balances) and trigger_rule (invoke automation rules).

Development Commands

# Install dependencies (use dev for testing)
pip install -e ".[dev]"

# Run tests
pytest -v

# Run a single test file
pytest tests/test_client.py -v

# Run a specific test function
pytest tests/test_client.py::describe_SequenceClient::describe_get_accounts::it_fetches_accounts_successfully -v

# Run the MCP server
python -m sequence_mcp.server

Architecture

Three-layer design:

  1. models.py - Pydantic models for API request/response serialization (uses field aliases like amountInDollars → amount_in_dollars)
  2. client.py - Async HTTP client (SequenceClient) using httpx with context manager support
  3. server.py - MCP server that exposes tools and delegates to the client

Authentication: Two methods coexist:

  • Access token (env var SEQUENCE_ACCESS_TOKEN) for account operations
  • Per-rule API secrets passed as parameters for rule triggers

Error handling: SequenceError exception carries API error codes (INVALID_ACCESS_TOKEN, INVALID_API_SECRET, TOO_MANY_REQUESTS, etc.) and is converted to JSON error responses by the server.

Testing

Tests use pytest-describe for BDD-style nested test organization. HTTP mocking is done with respx. Test files mirror source structure with shared fixtures in conftest.py.

Example test pattern:

def describe_ClassName():
    def describe_method_name():
        @pytest.mark.asyncio
        @respx.mock
        async def it_does_something(fixture_name):
            # arrange, act, assert
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

sequence-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository roaming-panda-llc/sequence-mcp (5 stars, last pushed 4mo ago), licensed MIT. It adds 442 tokens to every session, about $0.0018 per session on Opus 5.5. A static security scan graded it A with 0 findings. No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
