sequence-mcp copilot-instructions.md

sequence-mcp copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from roaming-panda-llc/sequence-mcp. It costs 298 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for reviewing code in an MCP server repository that uses pytest-describe, a Python testing style that groups nested behavior-focused tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them during GitHub Copilot reviews to understand the repository’s test naming, discovery, and code-review expectations.
Why use it?
They prevent reviewers from mistaking intentionally nested test functions for unused code or a testing error.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.00298 $0.00298
Opus 5 $0.00149 $0.00149
Sonnet 5 $0.00060 $0.00060
Haiku 4.5 $0.00030 $0.00030

Measured 4d ago against content hash 8938c8013773, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

sequence-mcp copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Test Requirements

pytest-describe Pattern

When using pytest-describe for test organization:

  • Test functions are nested functions with descriptive names (e.g., it_calculates_tool_efficiency)
  • These function names serve as test descriptions and are discovered by the pytest-describe framework
  • Do not flag these nested functions as "unused variables" - they are intentionally not called directly
  • The naming pattern follows BDD-style: it_<describes_behavior> or describe_<feature>

pytest-describe Testing Pattern

This project uses pytest-describe for BDD-style testing. The nested function pattern is intentional and not a code smell.

Pattern Explanation

def describe_MyClass():
    def describe_method_name():
        def it_does_something():
            # Test code here
            assert result == expected
  • Functions prefixed with describe_ define test contexts/groups
  • Functions prefixed with it_ define individual test cases
  • These nested functions are automatically discovered and executed by pytest-describe
  • They are NOT unused variables or dead code

Important Notes

  • Do not suggest removing these "unused" nested functions
  • Do not add # noqa comments or underscore prefixes to these functions
  • Do not refactor these into class-based tests unless explicitly requested
  • The nesting hierarchy is meaningful and defines test organization
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
