AGENTS.md

legal-ai-skills AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode from rohasnagpal/legal-ai-skills. It costs 1,459 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for AI assistants working with the Legal AI Skills project. They explain how to install and verify the project’s Claude Code or Codex plugin.

In plain words
What is it for?
Installing the Legal AI Skills plugin, updating its marketplace entry, checking installed plugins, and reporting the result.
Why use it?
They prevent installation steps from being missed or run in the wrong order. They also provide a fallback when the assistant cannot run terminal commands.

Instructions file for Claude CodeCodexOpenCode

Written for Claude Code and Codex and OpenCode: Claude Code plugin machinery, but also the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: reads .claude/ paths; mentions Claude Code; reads ~/.codex paths.

This is rohasnagpal/legal-ai-skills's own configuration. It tells Claude Code, Codex and OpenCode how to work on legal-ai-skills itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything legal-ai-skills configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01459 $0.01459
Opus 5.5 $0.00584 $0.00584
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00292 $0.00292
Haiku 4.5 $0.00146 $0.00146

Measured 5d ago against content hash 1389720a3687, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

legal-ai-skills AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Instructions for AI Assistants

This repository is Legal AI Skills by Rohas Nagpal, an AI law firm packaged as one plugin: a Managing Partner, 17 Specialist Lawyers, 3 Jurisdiction Counsel, 226 Legal Skills and 20 Workflows.

Use the section that matches your task.

The user's prompt is usually: Install Legal AI Skills from https://github.com/rohasnagpal/legal-ai-skills and say "Hello Rohas". It may instead ask you to update or upgrade Legal AI Skills.

0. Check which app you are running in

Legal AI Skills installs only in Claude Code (the CLI, the desktop app's Code tab or an IDE extension) and Codex (the desktop app, CLI or IDE extension). If you are any other app or assistant (for example Codex on the web at chatgpt.com/codex, a claude.ai or ChatGPT chat, Cursor, OpenCode or Windsurf):

  • do not install it into Claude Code or Codex on the user's behalf;
  • do not print the success message below;
  • tell the user: "Legal AI Skills runs in Claude Code and Codex. Open one of them and paste the same prompt there."

Updating an existing installation

If legal-ai-skills is already installed, or the user asked to update or upgrade, update instead of installing:

# Claude Code
claude plugin marketplace update rohas-legal
claude plugin update legal-ai-skills@rohas-legal

# Codex
codex plugin marketplace upgrade rohas-legal
codex plugin add legal-ai-skills@rohas-legal

Then report the installed version from claude plugin list or codex plugin list and tell the user to restart: in Claude Code run /reload-plugins or start a new session; in Codex start a new chat, and in the Codex desktop app quit and reopen it.

1. Install

Claude Code

Run these in the terminal yourself; do not ask the user to type them:

claude plugin marketplace add rohasnagpal/legal-ai-skills
claude plugin install legal-ai-skills@rohas-legal

If the first command says the rohas-legal marketplace already exists, run claude plugin marketplace update rohas-legal instead, then the install command. Check the result with claude plugin list.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
