my_mcp_rss CLAUDE.md

my_mcp_rss CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for coding agents from ronnycoding/my_mcp_rss. It costs 1,167 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for an RSS-feed management server built with the Model Context Protocol. RSS is a format that lets applications collect updates from websites, while MCP standardises how AI clients use tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Working on the server’s TypeScript build, development watch mode, MCP inspection, Docker-based PostgreSQL setup, and environment configuration.
Why use it?
They give developers the commands and setup details needed to build, test, debug, and run the server with a PostgreSQL database.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5 $0.01167 $0.01167
Opus 5 $0.00583 $0.00583
Sonnet 5 $0.00233 $0.00233
Haiku 4.5 $0.00117 $0.00117

Measured 4d ago against content hash cae3adf30b3c, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-08-30, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

my_mcp_rss CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 4d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Project Overview

MCP RSS is a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that provides RSS feed management capabilities through a standardized API. The server runs as a stdio-based MCP server that can be integrated with Claude Desktop and other MCP-compatible clients.

Development Commands

Build and Development

npm run build # Compile TypeScript to JavaScript (outputs to dist/)
npm run watch # Watch mode for development
npm run prepare # Pre-publish build step (runs automatically)

Testing and Debugging

npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector node dist/index.js # Debug MCP server with inspector

Database Setup

Using Docker Compose (Recommended):

docker-compose up -d # Start PostgreSQL in background
docker-compose down # Stop PostgreSQL
docker-compose logs -f postgres # View PostgreSQL logs

Using Docker CLI:

docker run -itd --name postgres-test -p 5433:5432 -e POSTGRES_USER=mcp_user -e POSTGRES_PASSWORD=123456 -e POSTGRES_DB=mcp_rss postgres:16-alpine

Configuration:

  • Copy .env.example to .env and customize settings
  • Docker Compose reads environment variables from .env file
  • Default credentials: mcp_user/123456 on port 5433 (change for production)

Architecture

Core Service Layer Pattern

The application follows a three-tier service architecture:

  1. OpmlService (src/services/OpmlService.ts): Handles OPML file parsing and initial feed import

    • Recursively processes OPML outline elements to handle nested categories
    • Creates Feed entities from RSS subscriptions found in OPML
  2. RssService (src/services/RssService.ts): Manages RSS feed fetching and article storage

    • Uses rss-parser to fetch and parse RSS feeds
    • Deduplicates articles by link before saving
    • Runs on a cron schedule (configurable via RSS_UPDATE_INTERVAL)

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
