Rowboat is an open-source personal AI assistant that organizes email, meetings, conversations, and other work into a linked knowledge graph, then helps people act on that information. It provides work areas for email, notes, browsing, coding, meeting transcription, and collaboration with background agents, for individual users or teams.

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.00425 | $0.00425 |
| Opus 5.5 | $0.00170 | $0.00170 |
| Sonnet 5.5 | $0.00085 | $0.00085 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00042 | $0.00042 |
Grade A, and why
rowboat AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 15d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Nothing flagged
None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.
What it actually says
Rowboat monorepo
Two applications, each its own pnpm workspace, plus product docs. Each area keeps its own guide; this file holds only what is true everywhere.
| Path | What | Guide |
|---|---|---|
apps/x/ |
The Rowboat desktop app (Electron + React) and its packages, including the mobile app | none yet — read apps/x/package.json scripts and the package READMEs |
apps/harbor/ |
Harbor, the Spaces server, and the spaces protocol package | apps/harbor/AGENTS.md |
docs/ |
Product docs that belong to no one app (the Spaces design language, notes) | — |
How the two apps relate
apps/x consumes @rowboat/spaces-protocol and @rowboat/harbor from apps/harbor as link: dependencies — never file:, which pnpm copies at install time and which then goes stale during co-development. Build harbor before installing or testing x:
cd apps/harbor && pnpm install && pnpm -r build
cd ../x && pnpm install && npm test
zod is pinned to one version (4.2.1) in both workspaces. A mismatch breaks type identity across the link. CI (.github/workflows/x-tests.yml) builds harbor first in every job, including release builds.
Rules that hold everywhere
- Comments explain why, with the date and the decision or PR they implement. The code says what.
- Documents own one kind of fact each and link to each other rather than restate. There are no status documents: status is the PR description and
git log. - A PR that changes a documented behavior changes the document in the same PR. For harbor the three questions are in its guide.
- Nothing speculative: no seat reserved for a rule or a feature that has no route yet.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

rowboat AGENTS.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository rowboatlabs/rowboat (17,999 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0.
