google-automation-mcp: Instructions file for Gemini CLI

GEMINI.md

google-automation-mcp GEMINI.md is an instructions file for Gemini CLI from sam-ent/google-automation-mcp. It costs 776 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of tools for managing Google Apps Script projects. Google Apps Script is Google's JavaScript-based service for automating and extending products such as Sheets, Docs, Forms, and Slides.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to list projects, read or update script files, create standalone or document-bound projects, run functions, manage deployments and versions, review execution history and metrics, and generate trigger code.
Why use it?
It gives an agent a way to inspect, edit, run, deploy, version, and monitor scripts through one interface. This reduces the need to manage these tasks manually in Google's editor.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00776 $0.00776
Opus 5 $0.00388 $0.00388
Sonnet 5 $0.00155 $0.00155
Haiku 4.5 $0.00078 $0.00078

Security

Grade A, and why

google-automation-mcp GEMINI.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Apps Script MCP

This extension provides tools to manage Google Apps Script projects.

Available Tools

  • list_script_projects — List all accessible Apps Script projects
  • get_script_project — Get project details including all files
  • get_script_content — Get content of a specific file
  • create_script_project — Create a new project (standalone or bound to Sheet/Doc/Form/Slides)
  • update_script_content — Update files in a project
  • delete_script_project — Delete a project (permanent, cannot be undone)
  • run_script_function — Execute a function in a script
  • create_deployment — Create a new deployment
  • list_deployments — List all deployments
  • update_deployment — Update deployment configuration
  • delete_deployment — Delete a deployment
  • list_versions — List all versions of a script
  • create_version — Create an immutable version snapshot
  • get_version — Get details of a specific version
  • list_script_processes — View recent script executions
  • get_script_metrics — Get execution analytics (active users, executions, failures)
  • generate_trigger_code — Generate Apps Script code for triggers

Authentication

Before using these tools, the user must authenticate with Google:

  1. Run gmcp auth in terminal (if browser available)
  2. Or run gmcp auth --headless for remote/SSH environments

If not authenticated, use start_google_auth to begin the OAuth flow, then complete_google_auth with the redirect URL.

Bound Scripts

To create a script attached to a Google Sheet, Doc, Form, or Slides:

  • Use create_script_project with the document ID as parent_id
  • Extract the ID from the document URL (e.g., docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/{ID}/edit)

Bound scripts can use onOpen, onEdit triggers and access document-specific APIs.

Triggers

The API cannot create triggers directly. Use generate_trigger_code to generate Apps Script code:

  • time_minutes / time_hours / time_daily / time_weekly — Scheduled triggers
  • on_open / on_edit — Simple triggers (just add the code)
  • on_form_submit / on_change — Event triggers

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
