mcp-server-powerpoint: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/instructions/meta.instructions.md

mcp-server-powerpoint meta.instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from sbroenne/mcp-server-powerpoint. It costs 301 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Maintenance instructions for coding agents contributing to an MCP server that automates Microsoft PowerPoint. MCP, or Model Context Protocol, is a way for AI tools to call external software; this project supports PowerPoint content and visual checks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when reorganising agent instructions, updating documentation links, changing generated behaviour, or maintaining the project's development guidance.
Why use it?
They help keep instructions in one authoritative place and prevent useful guidance from being lost during documentation changes. They also distinguish implementation work from review and release work.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00301 $0.00301
Opus 5.5 $0.00120 $0.00120
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00060 $0.00060
Haiku 4.5 $0.00030 $0.00030

Measured 1mo ago against content hash 417e568c328d, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-10-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

mcp-server-powerpoint meta.instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 1mo ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Instruction maintenance

  • Keep always-loaded guidance short: repository constraints, required checks, non-obvious pitfalls, and source pointers. Avoid tutorials and inventories.
  • Give each rule one authoritative home. Put task-specific details in scoped *.instructions.md files with quoted applyTo; link them from the root.
  • Agent-specific entry points only import or link shared guidance. Document client-specific loading differences instead of maintaining separate rules.
  • Include owning generators in scope when generated behavior is involved. Implementation instructions exclude code-review; review instructions exclude cloud-agent and keep the essential review checks independently.
  • Preserve unique safeguards and update inbound links when consolidating. Compare removed content against its destination. Move useful explanations, examples, and procedures to linked docs rather than dropping them; document corrections to obsolete claims. Keep the migration map in docs/DEVELOPMENT-GUIDE.md current and agent setup in docs/AGENT-CONFIGURATION.md.
  • Use .github/github-app.yml for app settings, not duplicate instructions or an unrequested model override. Keep scripts manual unless startup behavior is explicitly needed. Do not change account permissions or firewall settings.
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
