What is it for?
Understanding, running, configuring, or modifying the mcp-twilio-sms repository.
Why use it?
They give an agent the project-specific commands, setup details, architecture, and required secrets needed to work on or run the server.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00426 $0.00426
Opus 5 $0.00213 $0.00213
Sonnet 5 $0.00085 $0.00085
Haiku 4.5 $0.00043 $0.00043

Measured 11d ago against content hash 1ad051b47217, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-12, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade B, and why

mcp-twilio-sms CLAUDE.md scanned grade B with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 11d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Asks for rootmediumPrivilege escalation

A mod that escalates privileges can change anything on the machine, not only the project.

What it actually says

CLAUDE.md

This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.

Project Overview

MCP server that lets Claude send SMS text messages via Twilio. Single-file Python server (server.py) exposing two MCP tools: send_sms (sends a message) and get_sms_status (checks delivery).

Commands

uv sync                      # Install dependencies
uv run python server.py # Run MCP server (stdio transport)

# Or run directly (PEP 723 inline metadata):
uv run --script server.py

No test suite or linter is configured.

MCP Server Registration

This server is registered in both Claude Code and Claude Desktop via a bash wrapper that sources secrets from a centralized env file:

{
  "command": "/bin/bash",
  "args": ["-c", "set -a; source ~/.config/mcp/secrets.env; set +a; exec /opt/homebrew/bin/uv run --directory /path/to/mcp-twilio-sms python server.py"]
}
  • Secrets file: ~/.config/mcp/secrets.env (chmod 600) — shared with other MCP servers
  • Required secrets: TWILIO_ACCOUNT_SID, TWILIO_AUTH_TOKEN, TWILIO_PHONE_NUMBER

Architecture

Single-file design — all logic lives in server.py:

  • MCP layer: Uses mcp[cli] / FastMCP to expose tools over stdio
  • Twilio integration: Uses the official twilio Python SDK to send messages and check status
  • Two tools: send_sms (create + send message) and get_sms_status (fetch delivery status by SID)

Environment Variables

Required: TWILIO_ACCOUNT_SID, TWILIO_AUTH_TOKEN, TWILIO_PHONE_NUMBER. See .env.example.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
