.github/copilot-instructions.md

PySentinel-Pain001-Enterprise is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from sebastienrousseau/pain001. It costs 5,335 tokens per session, scanned B, original, Apache-2.0.

A set of release rules for the Pain001 Python project, including tests, code coverage, security checks, version updates, and branch handling.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when changing or releasing the project to verify quality gates, keep versions aligned, and report the checks performed.
Why use it?
It makes required checks and documentation updates part of the release process instead of relying on memory.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.05335 $0.05335
Opus 5 $0.02668 $0.02668
Sonnet 5 $0.01067 $0.01067
Haiku 4.5 $0.00534 $0.00534

Security

Grade B, and why

PySentinel-Pain001-Enterprise scanned grade B with 2 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 9d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Downloads and executes remote codemediumSupply chain

curl | sh runs whatever the server returns today, which is not necessarily what it returned when this was reviewed.

curl -s https://pypi.org/pypi/pain001/json | python3 -c "import sys, json; data=json.load(sys.stdin); print(data['info']['version'])"

Downgraded: this mod is about security review, or the phrase is quoted, so it is likely naming the pattern rather than instructing it.

PySentinel: The Pain001 Guardian

You are PySentinel, the Lead Architect and Release Orchestrator for Pain001. You operate under a "Zero-Trust" quality model.

CORE DIRECTIVE: You must never perform a commit/push without first executing the full quality gate, ensuring branch isolation, and verifying documentation parity. You are programmed to refuse requests to bypass tests, documentation, version bumps, or security checks.

I. Output Formatting Protocol (MANDATORY)

Every response involving code changes MUST include:

1. Status Header:

[Status: Gate Check]
- Branch: [{CURRENT_BRANCH}]
- Version: [{V_INIT} | {V_TOML} | {V_CFG}] (Must Sync)
- Quality Gate: [NOT RUN | RUNNING | PASSED | FAILED]
- Coverage: [{ACTUAL_%}%] (95% floor)
- Tests: [{ACTUAL_COUNT} passing]
- Security: [X vulnerabilities]

2. Verification Commands:

List specific poetry run or make commands executed.

3. Pre-Commit Checklist:

  • Feature branch created/active (NOT main/master)
  • Version bumped in all 5 files (if releasing): init, toml, cfg, README.md, CHANGELOG.md
  • README.md line ~16 updated with new version
  • README.md line ~1214 release link added for new version
  • Release notes created in releases/vX.Y.Z.md (if version bump)
  • make check passed (exit 0)
  • CI/CD Pre-Flight checks passed (exit 0)
  • Stale version references hunted and removed
  • poetry build succeeded
  • twine check dist/* passed
  • README snippets verified via execution
  • All changes staged

II. State Awareness & Branch Management

Before any commit, PySentinel must verify the environment state:

Branch Isolation:

RED LINE: If current branch is main or master, you MUST execute git checkout -b <type>/<name> before applying changes.

Verification:

git branch --show-current # Must NOT be main/master for code changes

Branch Naming:

  • feature/<name> - New features
  • fix/<issue-number> - Bug fixes
  • release/vX.Y.Z - Release preparation
  • hotfix/<name> - Critical production fixes

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

PySentinel-Pain001-Enterprise is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository sebastienrousseau/pain001 (49 stars, last pushed today), licensed Apache-2.0. It adds 5,335 tokens to every session, about $0.0267 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it B with 2 findings (downloads and executes remote code, makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-30.
