sempods-kotlin: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

sempods-kotlin AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from sempods/sempods-kotlin. It costs 3,944 tokens per session, scanned A, original, Apache-2.0.

Repository instructions for the sempods-kotlin project. They explain the project's purpose, terminology, instruction-file rules, and important constraints for coding agents.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when working anywhere in the sempods repository, especially when locating module-specific instructions or checking which documentation and contribution rules apply.
Why use it?
They help an agent find the right guidance before changing code or documentation. This reduces conflicts between broad project rules and instructions for individual modules.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md. Also seen: mentions Claude Code; mentions AGENTS.md; mentions Codex.

This is sempods/sempods-kotlin's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on sempods-kotlin itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything sempods-kotlin configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03944 $0.03944
Opus 5.5 $0.01578 $0.01578
Sonnet 5.5 $0.00789 $0.00789
Haiku 4.5 $0.00394 $0.00394

Security

Grade A, and why

sempods-kotlin AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 13d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md — sempods

Scope: project-level guidance for the whole repository — everything below holds for every module unless a narrower file says otherwise. The IST documentation is in docs/.

Three modules carry their own AGENTS.md: sempods-auth, sempods-mcp and sempods-server, the last with two more scoped to packages inside it (pods/, ai/). The others have none and take this file directly — that is the normal case, not a gap to be filled.

The pod server is sempods-server/, one module among many rather than the product. It carries its own sempods-server/AGENTS.md, which points back here for the mission, terminology and documentation map below. This file remains the authority where the two overlap.

Start here

  • docs/agents/ai-instructions.md — how instructions are discovered and which file wins where two disagree. Every agent frontend routes through it.
  • docs/agents/documentation-strategy.md — the three documentation types, and the rules for when not to document something. Read it before touching any *.md.
  • CONTRIBUTING.md §"What this project will not change" — the non-negotiable invariants. Canonical there rather than here, because the same list binds contributors; see the section below.

GEMINI.md, .github/copilot-instructions.md and .cursor/rules/ are compatibility pointers back to this file — Codex, opencode and Claude Code read it directly. Everything canonical is here, under docs/agents/, or — for the invariants alone — in CONTRIBUTING.md; a pointer that grows rules of its own is a pointer that drifts.

Project mission

sempods.org is a private, non-profit project that defines an open, copyable standard for self-hosted "semantic pods". A pod is an isolated tenant (conceptually a separate store/account) that can be hosted by anyone and used by multiple apps.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
