moo-tasks: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

moo-tasks CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from shekarsiri/moo-tasks. It costs 895 tokens per session, scanned A, a copy of moo-tasks AGENTS.md, MIT.

A set of project instructions for Claude Code that requires coding requests to be recorded and managed as Moo Tasks.

In plain words
What is it for?
Creating and claiming tasks, writing technical specifications and acceptance criteria, declaring affected files, and following the project's Moo Tasks workflow.
Why use it?
It gives the agent a fixed process for defining the goal, planning the work, and keeping implementation aligned with the requested scope.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00895 $0.00895
Opus 5 $0.00447 $0.00447
Sonnet 5 $0.00179 $0.00179
Haiku 4.5 $0.00089 $0.00089

Measured 7d ago against content hash 5256df41b66b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-07, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

moo-tasks CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories โ€” prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency โ€” measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

๐Ÿฎ AGENT GUIDELINES & PROTOCOL (Moo Tasks)

โš ๏ธ CRITICAL DIRECTIVE: You are connected to the Moo Tasks MCP server. For EVERY user instruction, bug fix, or feature request, you MUST record and track your work in Moo Tasks with FULL TECHNICAL DETAILS BEFORE modifying code or running terminal commands. Never edit code without an active claimed task ID.

When the user asks you to implement a feature or fix an issue, use moo_quick_start to atomically create and claim the task in a single step with complete specifications:

{
  "title": "Implement feature X",
  "type": "feature",
  "tags": ["backend", "api"],
  "description": "### Technical Overview\nDetailed design, architectural breakdown, and step-by-step implementation plan.\n\n### Implementation Plan\n1. Step 1...\n2. Step 2...",
  "acceptanceCriteria": "- [ ] Clear, testable markdown definition of done\n- [ ] Unit tests pass",
  "priority": "high",
  "declaredFiles": ["src/feature.ts"]
}

๐ŸŽฏ Full Mandatory 6-Step Workflow Protocol

1. Goal Anchoring (Prevent Scope Drift)

  • Always anchor the human user's overarching request with moo_create_goal(title, verbatimPrompt, description).
  • Always include:
    • verbatimPrompt: Store the user's EXACT verbatim prompt to maintain fidelity.
    • description: Full rich Markdown PRD, architectural breakdown, component boundaries, and milestones.

2. Task Planning & Full Specifications

  • Break down the goal into small, atomic tasks before touching code:
    • Call moo_create_task or moo_create_tasks_batch.
    • Task titles must be clean, descriptive text โ€” do NOT embed priority codes, category prefixes, or sequence numbers in titles (e.g. avoid "C1: โ€ฆ", "H2: โ€ฆ", "UX-3: โ€ฆ", "M1 โ€” โ€ฆ"). Use the priority, type, and tags fields for classification.
    • ALWAYS write a comprehensive description containing:
      1. Technical Overview & Architecture: Why and how this is built.
      2. Step-by-Step Implementation Plan: Numbered actionable steps.
      3. Design Decisions / Code Snippets: Key types, schemas, or endpoints.
    • ALWAYS write testable acceptanceCriteria in Markdown with checkboxes (- [ ]) BEFORE touching code.
    • Declare declaredFiles and prerequisite dependsOnTaskIds (DAG cycle prevention is enforced).
    • Open tasks cap (max 10 open items per goal) is strictly enforced to prevent over-planning.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
