agent-public AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from siarhei-belavus/agent-public. It costs 304 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of AGENTS.md instructions for software agents working in a specific code repository. It defines project rules for commits, web research, Python, code navigation, and editing.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to guide coding, file changes, searches, commits, and use of the project’s development tools.
Why use it?
It gives agents consistent repository-specific guidance instead of making them guess how the project should be handled.

Written for Codex and OpenCode: the file is AGENTS.md.

This is siarhei-belavus/agent-public's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on agent-public itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Copy it as a starting point and replace the rules that are about this project. Everything agent-public configures →

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00304 $0.00304
Opus 5 $0.00152 $0.00152
Sonnet 5 $0.00061 $0.00061
Haiku 4.5 $0.00030 $0.00030

Security

Grade A, and why

agent-public AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

Agent Protocol

  • Guardrails: use trash for deletes when available.
  • Commits: Conventional Commits (feat|fix|refactor|build|ci|chore|docs|style|perf|test).
  • Web: search early; quote exact errors; prefer 2025-2026 sources.
  • Style: telegraph. Drop filler/grammar. Min tokens. When reporting information to user, be extremely concise and sacrifice grammar for the sake of concision.

Tools

Python Executable

  • Use python3 for all Python execution.

Serena MCP

MANDATORY for all code (not markdown) navigation. Token economy is critical — every unnecessary file read burns context budget.

  • Use Serena only for files inside the current project directory/root.
  • Do not use Serena for paths outside $cwd / active project root; it is project-scoped and will deny external access.
  • For anything outside current project dir, use standard tools (read, bash, write, edit) instead of Serena.
Editing (symbol-level precision; no broad rewrites)
  • Replace function/method/class body → serena_replace_symbol_body.
  • Add new code adjacent to existing symbol → serena_insert_after_symbol / serena_insert_before_symbol.
  • Rename across codebase → serena_rename_symbol.

pi-web-access code_search

Broken. Do NOT call. Exa removed upstream tool; extension not updated.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
