slimdex-mcp: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/copilot-instructions.md

slimdex-mcp copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from Siddhukaushik/slimdex-mcp. It costs 1,357 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A set of instructions for using Slimdex, a codebase search and context tool, while working on a repository. It explains which searches and summaries to request for understanding files, symbols, callers, and tests.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it to map a repository, refresh its index, search by name or behaviour, find definitions and references, inspect callers and imports, and locate related tests.
Why use it?
It helps the coding agent find relevant code with fewer unnecessary tokens and lowers the chance of relying on outdated repository information.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01357 $0.01357
Opus 5 $0.00678 $0.00678
Sonnet 5 $0.00271 $0.00271
Haiku 4.5 $0.00136 $0.00136

Security

Grade A, and why

slimdex-mcp copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 8d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 100 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.

Slimdex Copilot Instructions

Use Slimdex first. The goal is the fewest tokens that still get the answer right.

Open with batch: [ index_repo, brief ]. brief gives repo shape, where recent sessions dug, and saved conclusions checked against the index (✓ live, ⚠ stale); it works cold, building the index itself. index_repo is incremental — re-run after your edits or a branch change, or searches answer confidently and wrongly.

Symbol questions take symbol tools; search_code is for literals only. On an ambiguous name use pathPrefix or path+line — don't read the candidates to pick one. After a skeleton, follow through with get_symbol_context/read_lines for just those spans; never widen to a whole file. context_pack orients — drop to exact source after. batch runs up to 20 calls in one round-trip (no nesting), but batching doesn't excuse a wide call.

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
