bcb-br-mcp: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

bcb-br-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from SidneyBissoli/bcb-br-mcp. It costs 7,286 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository instructions for bcb-br-mcp, a TypeScript MCP server that exposes Brazilian Central Bank data through tools. MCP is a standard way for AI agents to call external tools.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when working on the server, its Central Bank data tools, architecture, or tests.
Why use it?
They give an agent the project context, supported data sources, design rules, and testing guidance needed to make safe changes.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.07286 $0.07286
Opus 5 $0.03643 $0.03643
Sonnet 5 $0.01457 $0.01457
Haiku 4.5 $0.00729 $0.00729

Security

Grade A, and why

bcb-br-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 5d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What this is

An MCP server, published to npm as bcb-br-mcp, exposing three public APIs of the Brazilian Central Bank as 17 tools over STDIO and Streamable HTTP: the SGS time series (Selic, IPCA, FX, GDP and 135 verified indicators), the Focus market-expectations survey (Olinda OData) and PTAX exchange rates. No database; the only state is module-level — the curated series catalog and the 24-hour cache of the Open Data Portal index (metadata only).

Two consumer channels, both in production and both protected:

  • npm (bcb-br-mcp, ~500 downloads/month, 1.36k uses on Smithery) — stdio.
  • Hostedhttps://bcb.sidneybissoli.com/mcp (custom domain) and the historical https://bcb.sidneybissoli.workers.dev.

Commands

npm run build # limpa dist/ e compila com tsconfig.build.json (sem testes nem evals)
npm start # node dist/index.js (servidor MCP em stdio)
npm test # vitest run
npm run typecheck # tsc --noEmit (inclui os testes — o build os exclui)
npm run smoke # smoke contra o worker hospedado

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
