unreal-umg-design-system: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

unreal-umg-design-system AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from sinanata/unreal-umg-design-system. It costs 2,716 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Repository guidance for coding agents working on an Unreal Engine 5.8 plugin that provides reusable, themed interface widgets and design rules.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when adding or changing Unreal UMG interfaces, theming, accessibility support, or the plugin's C++ modules.
Why use it?
It helps agents keep screens visually consistent and avoid hardcoded colours, sizes, fonts, or unsupported widget choices.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.02716 $0.02716
Opus 5 $0.01358 $0.01358
Sonnet 5 $0.00543 $0.00543
Haiku 4.5 $0.00272 $0.00272

Security

Grade A, and why

unreal-umg-design-system AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 10d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

AGENTS.md

Guidance for AI coding assistants (Copilot, Cursor, Codex, Claude Code) working in a project that consumes the Unreal UMG Design System plugin, or in this repo itself.

What this project is

A source-only Unreal Engine 5.8 plugin (class prefix Ds) providing design tokens (UDsTheme), 40+ themed UMG widgets, a 125-icon SVG set, runtime theming, focus and screen-reader support, and a W3C design-token pipeline. It ships no content assets; everything is C++.

Three modules: UmgDesignSystem (runtime), UmgDesignSystemEditor, and UmgDesignSystemCommonUI (optional, compiles to nothing without CommonUI).

Golden rules (do not violate)

  1. Use Ds widgets, not stock widgets, for anything user-facing. UDsButton instead of UButton + hand styling, UDsText instead of UTextBlock with a hardcoded font, UDsTextBox instead of UEditableTextBox, UDsDropdown instead of UComboBoxString, UDsStack instead of UVerticalBox with typed padding, UDsListView instead of UListView, and so on. The point of the system is that no screen carries literal colours, sizes, or fonts.

  2. Never hardcode a colour, radius, spacing, font size, or control height. Resolve the theme and read tokens:

    const UDsTheme& T = ThemeBinding.Resolve(this);   // inside a Ds widget
    const UDsTheme* T = UDsTheme::Resolve(Widget);    // anywhere else
    T->Primary.Base
    T->GetRadius(EDsRadius::MD)
    T->GetSpace(EDsSpace::S4)              // density-scaled; prefer this
    T->GetControlHeight(EDsControlSize::Medium)
    T->GetIconSize(EDsIconSize::MD)
    T->MakeFontInfo(EDsTextRole::Body1)

    In Blueprint use UDsStyleLibrary. Reading T->Space4 directly gives the authored value and ignores density — occasionally right, usually not.

  3. Sizes are tokens too. Control heights, icon sizes, toggle geometry, and the focus ring live in UDsTheme::Metrics (FDsMetrics). If you need a number the system does not have, add it there — do not write a literal. Tools/lint_ds.py fails the build for literals in the style layer.

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
