Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.
| Model | Per session | Once invoked |
|---|---|---|
| Fable 5.1 | $0.01741 | $0.01741 |
| Opus 5 | $0.00870 | $0.00870 |
| Sonnet 5 | $0.00348 | $0.00348 |
| Haiku 4.5 | $0.00174 | $0.00174 |
Grade A, and why
brain-mcp CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 1 finding against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.
A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.
Makes network callslowCapability
Not a fault in itself. Listed so you know the mod talks to something, and to what.
curl http://localhost:3100/health How it starts
The opening of the file, as written. The whole thing — 139 lines — stays where its author put it; the contents beside it link to each section on GitHub.
CLAUDE.md
This file provides guidance to Claude Code (claude.ai/code) when working with code in this repository.
What this is
An MCP server (streamable-HTTP transport) that exposes a markdown,
PARA-structured Obsidian vault as six tools: five read tools plus one
constrained write tool (capture, which only ever creates new notes in
00-inbox/). One running container serves exactly one vault; a second
vault is a second, independent container built from the same image. Full
behavioral spec is in brain-mcp-spec.md.
Commands
# Install (uv is the primary path; a plain venv works too)
uv sync --dev
# or: python3 -m venv .venv && .venv/bin/pip install -e ".[dev]"
# Run the full test suite
uv run pytest
# or: .venv/bin/python -m pytest
# Run a single test file or test
uv run pytest tests/test_vault.py
uv run pytest tests/test_vault.py::test_find_by_full_uid
# Run the server locally (requires BRAIN_ROOT, BRAIN_NAME, BRAIN_TOKEN)
export BRAIN_ROOT=/path/to/vault BRAIN_NAME=personal BRAIN_TOKEN=dev-token
uv run brain-mcp
# Build and run in Docker
cp .env.example .env # fill in BRAIN_NAME, BRAIN_VAULT_PATH, BRAIN_TOKEN
docker compose up -d --build
curl http://localhost:3100/health
Tests run entirely against a synthetic fixture vault built fresh per test
in tests/conftest.py — never against real vault data. There's no linter
configured in this repo.
Module responsibilities
config.py— env var parsing/validation, fails fast with a clear error.vault.py— the index: frontmatter parsing, exclusions, path safety, uid resolution, wikilink resolution, CONVENTIONS.md enum parsing,watchfiles-driven live reindexing.search.py— ripgrep subprocess wrapper for content search. No content index is built; ripgrep runs against the filesystem on every call.capture.py— the one write path (note creation in00-inbox/).server.py— the six@mcp.tool()definitions, the bearer-auth ASGI middleware, and process startup/shutdown wiring.
What this file has done since we first saw it
Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.

brain-mcp CLAUDE.md is an instructions file published in the GitHub repository sipho102/brain-mcp (0 stars, last pushed 6d ago), licensed MIT. It adds 1,741 tokens to every session, about $0.0087 per session on Opus 5. A static security scan graded it A with 1 finding (makes network calls). No closer match exists in the catalogue, so it is treated as the original; first seen 2026-08-31.
