ai-performance-mate-extension: Instructions file for Codex

AGENTS.md

ai-performance-mate-extension AGENTS.md is an instructions file for Codex, OpenCode from skrepr/ai-performance-mate-extension. It costs 448 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for an AI Mate extension that exposes Symfony profiler data as MCP tools. Symfony is a PHP framework, and a profiler records application runtime information for debugging.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use them when developing or reviewing this PHP package, especially its five profiler tools, dependency-injection setup, tests, and PHPStan checks.
Why use it?
They tell an agent how to install, test, analyze, and structure the extension, while highlighting requirements such as public tool services and blocking static-analysis errors.

This is skrepr/ai-performance-mate-extension's own configuration. It tells Codex and OpenCode how to work on ai-performance-mate-extension itself, so it is not a mod to install elsewhere. Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.00448 $0.00448
Opus 5 $0.00224 $0.00224
Sonnet 5 $0.00090 $0.00090
Haiku 4.5 $0.00045 $0.00045

Measured 6d ago against content hash 323680c1617b, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-06, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

ai-performance-mate-extension AGENTS.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

What it actually says

AGENTS.md

AI Mate extension (Composer package) that exposes Symfony profiler runtime data as MCP tools for AI agents. Dev-only; PHP ≥ 8.2, Symfony 6.4/7.x/8.x, DBAL 3.6+/4.x.

Commands

composer install
composer test # PHPUnit
composer phpstan # PHPStan level 8 + strict rules — findings are blocking

End-to-end smoke test (this repo is itself a Mate root project):

vendor/bin/mate mcp:tools:list # all 5 tools visible?
vendor/bin/mate mcp:tools:call slow_queries '{}' # full DI chain

Architecture

  • src/*Tool.php — the 5 MCP tools (entry layer): thin mappers from core output to JSON
  • src/ProfileReader.php — reads profiles via FileProfilerStorage; OOM guards + in-process cache (core)
  • src/QueryShapes.php — pure aggregation: shape grouping, N+1 heuristics, before/after diff (core)
  • src/Sql.php — pure SQL/backtrace helpers (core)
  • config/services.php — DI config, loaded by Mate; tool services MUST be public (the MCP SDK resolves via $container->has(FQCN))
  • Registration with consumers via extra.ai-mate in composer.json; see vendor/bin/mate discover

Conventions

  • All text (comments, tool descriptions, error messages, docs) in English; INSTRUCTIONS.md is the agent-facing tool guide
  • Strict types; no empty(); explicit checks (null ===, '' ===)
  • Pure logic belongs in static helper classes (Sql, QueryShapes) — testable without IO; tools stay thin
  • Tool output follows the Mate design principles: distill instead of dump, hard limits with a truncation signal (sql_shape_truncated), sensitive data stripped
  • ProfileReader::profileFilePath() mirrors Symfony's path scheme; the schema-pin test in ProfileReaderTest fails if Symfony changes it
Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
