skyciv-ai-skills: Instructions file for GitHub Copilot

.github/copilot-instructions.md

skyciv-ai-skills copilot-instructions.md is an instructions file for GitHub Copilot from skyciv/skyciv-ai-skills. It costs 1,178 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

Project instructions for a collection of AI skills built around SkyCiv, a structural-engineering software platform. Each skill teaches an agent how to use a particular SkyCiv API, with optional examples, catalogues, or templates.

In plain words
What is it for?
Adding and documenting SkyCiv skills, updating the human-readable skill index, and organising API references and supporting assets.
Why use it?
They provide the project structure and authoring rules needed to add skills that use the platform's APIs correctly instead of guessing request formats or units.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.01178 $0.01178
Opus 5 $0.00589 $0.00589
Sonnet 5 $0.00236 $0.00236
Haiku 4.5 $0.00118 $0.00118

Measured 6d ago against content hash 858326b99946, method: parsed. Prices are Anthropic first-party input rates as of 2026-09-10, from the pricing page.

Security

Grade A, and why

skyciv-ai-skills copilot-instructions.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 6d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

SkyCiv AI Skills — Project Guidelines

Project Overview

This repository is a collection of skills built on top of the SkyCiv structural engineering platform. Each skill teaches an AI agent how to use a specific part of the SkyCiv API ecosystem. Skills are designed to be composed together to build high-quality structural engineering software.

Skill Structure

Each skill lives in its own folder with a SKILL.md file at the root of that folder:

<skill-name>/
SKILL.md # required — skill instructions and API reference
assets/ # optional — example inputs, catalogues, templates

Skill files use YAML frontmatter when the skill needs a name, description, or argument-hint discoverable by agents. Not all skills need frontmatter (documentation-only skills may omit it).

Adding a New Skill

When a new skill folder and SKILL.md are added to this repository, always update README.md to include an entry for it. The README is the primary index for humans and agents discovering what skills are available.

Add the skill to the skills table in README.md using this format:

| [skill-folder-name](./skill-folder-name/) | One-line description of what this skill enables |

Keep the table sorted alphabetically by folder name.

Skill Authoring Guidelines

  • Prerequisite note first: If a skill depends on S3D.session.start or another skill, call that out at the top.
  • Use tables for parameters: Prefer Markdown tables over prose lists for API parameters.
  • Include minimal working examples: Show the smallest JSON payload that demonstrates the core use case.
  • Reference related skills: Cross-link to sibling skills where relevant (e.g., s3d-apiskyciv-api-v3).
  • Be specific about units: Always state whether values are metric or imperial, and which field controls units.

Skill Relationships

Skills are designed to work together:

skyciv-api-v3 → Core auth + request envelope (prerequisite for all API skills)
s3d-api → Build and solve structural models
s3d-apps → Build custom client-side mini-apps embedded inside S3D itself
cloudcad-api → Generate CAD drawings from models
renderer → Visualise models in the browser
load-gen-api → Retrieve wind/snow/seismic loads by location
schema-agent → Interpret floor plans (DXF/image) into a structural schema
section-selector → Select and inject the right section from the library into an S3D model
run-quick-design → Run pre-built SkyCiv calculators
qa-engineer → Review and validate engineering outputs

Changes

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
