Pebble: Instructions file for Claude Code

CLAUDE.md

Pebble CLAUDE.md is an instructions file for Claude Code from skyf0xx/Pebble. It costs 3,568 tokens per session, scanned A, original, MIT.

A project guide for Pebble, a warm, minimal installable chat interface that connects directly to Hermes and OpenClaw agents. It describes the product, technology choices, structure, and important protocols.

In plain words
What is it for?
Use it when building Pebble’s React interface, launcher, Hermes connection, reverse proxy, or agent UI message components.
Why use it?
It gives coding agents the context needed to work safely on the interface and its agent-message handling without overlooking required project documents.

Token cost

What it costs to keep this loaded

Counted locally with the o200k_base tokenizer, which is exact for GPT models; Claude uses its own tokenizer and its counts differ. Treat this as one consistent yardstick across the catalogue rather than a bill. Prices are per million input tokens.

ModelPer sessionOnce invoked
Fable 5.1 $0.03568 $0.03568
Opus 5 $0.01784 $0.01784
Sonnet 5 $0.00714 $0.00714
Haiku 4.5 $0.00357 $0.00357

Security

Grade A, and why

Pebble CLAUDE.md scanned grade A with 0 findings against 26 rules in 11 categories — prompt injection, anti-refusal, data exfiltration, privilege escalation, supply chain, agent snooping, system-prompt leakage, SSRF and excessive agency — measured 7d ago.

A static scan of the body, not an audit. Every finding is printed with the line that produced it so you can judge whether it matters here. A mod is markdown that instructs an agent; that is exactly why what it instructs is worth reading.

Nothing flagged

None of the 26 patterns this scan looks for appear in this file: no shell pipes, no recursive deletes, no credential paths, no hidden text, no instruction-override or anti-refusal phrasing, no agent-config snooping. That is not a guarantee, it is the absence of the things that are checkable.

Pebble — Claude Code Context

A PWA chat interface for Hermes and Open Claw agents. Warm, minimal, installable. No backend needed.

Before you start

  • SPEC.md — product vision, session model, rendering rationale. Read for the why
  • TODO.md — the build order. Each task is self-contained. Work one task at a time, commit, move on.
  • hermes-plugin/skills/pebble-protocol/SKILL.md — the pebble_send protocol (message/ui/status/push). Read before touching AgentUIBlock or the Hermes adapter's tool-call interception. The OpenUI Lang component catalogue is split into the sibling pebble-protocol-ui/SKILL.md (the agent loads it lazily when building a UI block).

What we're building

A static React PWA that connects directly to a Hermes agent's HTTP API. No backend, no MCP server. The Pebble launcher (main.go) serves the app and reverse-proxies /api/* to Hermes from the same origin, so on the desktop machine Pebble auto-connects to its own localhost origin with no wizard and no paste. Tailscale is only needed to reach Pebble from another device: you expose the launcher with tailscale serve, then use the app's "Open on phone" button — with a tunnel up it shows a QR to scan; without one it opens the SetupScreen wizard that walks you through Tailscale. Access (over the tunnel) is gated by the tailnet itself — there is no API token. It talks to the agent over GET /api/sessions + POST /api/sessions/{id}/chat/stream (SSE).

The UI has two views:

  • Session list — chat inbox, WhatsApp-style (not a task board). Active / Completed sections, each sorted by last_updated
  • Chat thread — messages + inline interactive UI pushed by the agent

What this file has done since we first saw it

Hashed on every crawl. A supply-chain change to an agent config is a question of when, not whether, so the history is kept rather than the latest state alone.
